Are non-white Christmas lights trashy?

Color. White is nice when the focus is on the decorations as you can see them better with white. But color just gets me into a dreamy, kid-like mode. Probably because we always had color growing up. I think the best of both worlds is to have white in say a living room and color in the more relaxed family room. No rule against having more than one tree.
