She never called them that. I watched just about every episode of jon&skate plus 8 and kate plus 8 and she's never called them that. She calls them the little KIDS. I would remember if she called them the littles bc it would annoy me.

I've mostly heard it from early-30s professional friends with no kids who are asking me about my children. As in "How are the littles?" It doesn't bother me at all, but I would never use the word myself.

I think people think it sounds sophisticated. The people I know who do use "littles" are generally pretentious. You know...like those who say things like "bloody hell", "cheers!" and "bloke" but are from Arkansas.

I don't personally use any of these terms, but in my experience, littles/nursling/mama are used in "crunchy" circles, while preggo/preggers/hubby/hubs are used by the hipster crowd. I'm not bothered by the first set of words (I think nursling is sweet), but I find the second set annoying and cringe-worthy.

I don't think I've ever said "littles" out loud, but I've written it when I've been too lazy to type out little ones. I would use it to mean babies and toddlers.

A guy friend of mine called our dogs the littles, and now we just extended it to our kids too. So lils are the dogs and kids as a group for us. No idea why really.

Yes, it does go along with terms like "the hubs" and "amazeballs". The people I know who use the term "the littles" tend to be from flyover country.

My friend uses it but that's because she has two college-age kids and two elementary school-aged kids so she refers to the younger ones as the littles when she talks about them.

I hear the term on the internet often. For example, there is a "Feeding the Littles" Facebook group. But I hardly ever hear it in IRL. I agree it's annoying.

I don't say this and don't plan to.

I HATE IT....and it really is overused by the crunchy sect. Ever heard of that FB group "Carseats for the Littles"? <barf>

YOU WIN. I fucking love you.

It's in a few books I've read.
