I don't really understand this thread, but English is not my first language.... Do you guys mean "oh, hello 'little one'?" or "I am taking the 'little ones" to the park today." ?
Or just "I am taking the "littles" to the park today." ? |
| ^^ PP again: I hear "little ones" all the time and never gave a second thought to it. I find it a term of endearment. I have NEVER heard the term "littles" alone.... |
| Hear little ones from time to time and it doesn't bother me. Have never heard just littles though. Mama does irritate me though since as a PP said, it associates with those "crunchy mamas" who are a bit too judgmental for my taste. |
| These same people, in my experience, also write "ahmazing," "minis," and go on and on about how god/jesus has blessed them with the greatest "hubby" in the world. |
| I've only heard it in reference to dominate/submissive sexual relationships. The dom. often uses "little" or "kitten" as a pet name. So I see ball gag & handcuffs when I hear "my little" |
I was always under the impression that we gave our children NAMES, in order to distinguish them from our other children in the household... Anyone else? |
| My DIL calls the 2 year old little one. But she's a follower and fruit. |
| I use littles as short for "little ones," usually meaning preschool or younger aged kids (and I also use kiddos--sorry, PP who hates that one!--to mean any age kids). I've never used preggers or preggo, though (ugh) and have never even heard of nursling or crunch mama...?!? So just to say that it is not one monolithic group of people using these. Also, I'm neither Mormon nor a mommy blogger. So, yeah. Had no idea it bugged people so much! |
| My mom used call my two younger sisters "the littles" over 20 years ago to distinguish them from my brother and I, who are older. Not new. |
| It reminds me of Kate Gosselin! She ALWAYS referenced to the sextuplets as "the littles". So annoying! Anything to keep them marketable |
| No one I know does this, thank goodness. |
| Same people who call K "kinder" and their DH "hubby". |
Or "the hubs." Like nails on a chalkboard. |
Your DIL is a fruit? |
| I love this thread. |
