Are there any otherwise "crunchy" moms out there that have gotten breast implants?

You do know they only last 5-10 years and have to be replaced?

Imagine that unneeded surgery and associated risks with anathesia at an older age....

Also--I have a friend that has breast cancer and the doctor came outright and told her the implants are the reason it was missed early on.

This is absolutly false.

My mother has had the SAME implants since 1990-do the math on that one. She is 60 and I can guarantee you that she still loves them. IF she needed hers replaced she said she would go bigger and she would go silicone to "try them out". We do not stop wanting to be beautiful and look good when we get older.

Not the poster you are replying to but generally 10-12 years us average.
I have seen old people with implants. It looks weird.

Is your mom slim?

Old women with perky implants is HIGHLY disturbing...stomach turning.

She is built exactly like Kris Jenner and looks like her in a bathing suit. Yes, she makes young women sick. Her boobs are phenomenal.

Pretty accurate:

So she's not really thin at all.

Crunchy/vain/whatever/who cares.

Do what you want but IMHO you should just gain a little weight back to fill them out. That way, even if you do decide to get implants, they won't be so obvious with a low BMI. JMO.

Seriously - Fried eggs, people. And the deflated saggy nipples look like hell, too. I want implants so badly - Dh says to do it if I want, but I am scared I will die on the table and leave my kids motherless so I can have some boobs. I do like these ladies on here who say live life to the fullest, boobs and all!

So I just had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I was a small deflated B before-nursed three kids-I am now a full B, small C maybe. I am only a month out so cannot speak to the final product but they look ok right now, "fuller" than I was before but not too different. My recovery is probably a bit worse than just augmentation but really not too bad-I mean not easy but ok. Life is too short-do what feels right for you and do not worry about what others think. Also, I am small, 5"4 113 pounds so I wanted to be proportionate.

Good for you PP! And great advice. I hope your road back to good health is happy and perky!!

I would call myself a crunchy mom. I have breifly entertained the idea of breast augmentation but ultimatly decided I did not want to have any surgery that was not medically necessary. I couldn't get past the what if something terrible happens while I am under the knife. Especially since it's elective.

I might revisit the issue once I am certain I am done having kids. I think it can't hurt to meet with some plastic surgeons for a consult.

So what does that matter and how is it relevant to the conversation?

Have you considered Fat Transfer. Using your own fat that is isolated and then injected. My friend did it and her results are great. I have to say though, when she gained weight, she gained it in her breasts!
Anyway, her doctor is Dr. Feledy in Chevy Chase.

That technique is far from perfect and normally results are just temporary. I did a lot of research.

Do you mind sharing some of that research? Wverything I've read indicates long-term/ permanent results.

I have heard, because it's your own fat, you could "loose" it just like you'd loose weight (body fat). But if you gain weight, you gain body fat.

I can't imagine fat being "temporary" and just melting away. If that was the case I'd put the fat everywhere hoping that it would go away and take more with it!

Dr Feledy mentioned above is pretty honest about fat grafting not being a permanent procedure.

The website someone posted pretty much sums it up and is unanimous with what I found myself.

Additionally, I would never get liposuction (which is what is required of fat injections). The reason for that is because almost always the skin gets a strange bumpy and lumpy texture after lipo. I'm extremely happy with my body and lack of bumps and lumps. I'm also extremely happy with my year old silicone implants.

I had one doctor tell me that when he did lipo on someone of normal weight, she returned 3 months later and had gained the weight back in her ANKLES only and could not get her feet into any boots of any sort. No thank you!!!

I am the poster that had reconstruction surgery with silicone implants..my plastic surgeon told me that the fat will eventually sag/droop/ too and you will be back to where you started.

Three cheers for Dr. Feledy. Mine were saggy and deflated from breastfeeding. Post-implants, I feel spectacular. Every day when I wake up in the morning. Every time I am naked. I walk with an, "oh yeah. I got it goin' on!" in my step. I just couldn't see having my husband or myself having to live with such droopy empty breasts forever when changing them was so easy. Having kids can do a number on you but some of it is totally fixable. I refuse to throw in the towel on my need to feel beautiful years.

I know this is very old... But I'm a crunchy mama who got implants 3 months ago.. I love them 95% of the time.. And doubt my decision the other 5. The doubting isn't from actually disliking the implants, but simply from fear and panic of being "unnatural". I say go for it. I didn't feel sexy anymore. We were done having kids and I was only 29... I was too young to feel so old. Our sex life has improved- I like the way I feel in clothes- I'm more motivated to take care of my body- I feel younger.. Etc.
