Omg, bud is one step away from 'brahhh' to me, in the 'bro' sense. |
+1 can't stand the vulva poster(s) |
Prego is a name brand spaghetti sauce. You cannot shame me for referring to it. |
Why not just call it by one of the generally used euphemisms, if you're too prissy to use the correct anatomical terms? That would get more respect and sound less foolish. It's like calling your front door your hallway. Or referring to your lips or mouth as your tongue. |
But why? I went to law school with a "Bud" because he was a II or a Jr. Instead of using the long formal name, he used Bud - as in Bud off the old plant/tree, i.e., the dad or uncle. Common name in the south. When he signed his full name, he added "("Bud")" in the center jur before the surname. Helped the family keep the two Charles straight. |
I "totally" "like" hate posters (presumably all bitchy women) whose first resort in any comment on this site, resort to "Defensive some?" "Or, I gather you didn't get into X school?" (No I am a teacher there trying to help another parent make the right decision - i have no axe to grind). "Sour grapes" is another one frequently used. Adds nothing, zero, to the conversion but somehow must do someting for the poster. the "grandma" references are the same (and I would be a grandpa only if older). I don't see how these posts add anything to the conversations. |
No, its not the same. Since you just bought a dictionary, you might want to look up prescriptive vs. descriptive language. That will help you understand why you sound stupid. |
Now that we're on the subject.. ![]() Thriving. I don't know how and when it became mandatory to call all children 'thriving'. Her daughter is a thriving first-grader, his son is a thriving freshman. And 9 times out of 10 this descriptor has no relevance whatsoever to the topic discussed. |
It's short for buddy, not usually a proper nickname. Get a clue. |
I do have a clue. And it can be short for "jr." and my classmate from a very top tier laugh school who is a state senator is now laughing at you.

Get over yourself |
+1. And agree it's annoying. |
What? Comedy school? Make sense woman! |
I am making sense. Read 1:46. "Bud" is a midwestern southern term for Jr. Then someone told me to "get a clue". They were wrong and I posted the link about "Bud" not coming from "Buddy" and is used so as to not confuse a junior and a senior. Go read the link at :47. It's perfectly coherent. |
This is the DMV (a regional term for DC, MD, and VA). How many midwestern southerners do you see around here? I doubt all those annoying parents who are talking to their special little boy snowflakes, "buddy, hold my hand", is in reference to nomenclature. |
