Girls basically seems like a Sex & The City ripoff, but post-college. I've seen Girls, but just don't get the allure, or what's original about the show. |
She looka like a man |
You're all missing the point. She's not about being pretty, she's about being a bad-ass. And she's a total bad-ass. Do you think she cares what you think about her? She doesn't give a fuck, and that's why she's so awesome. She's the rare woman who is about ideas and her art and not making herself a fantasy for losers on the internet.
Go back to Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus or whoever who you think is a hottie..... |
Girls is the wrong title. It's really White Girls. |
No, she doesn't 'care what anyone thinks about her', because her father is a TV exec. That's how she got to do the show and that's how she got the part. In fact, most of lead females on the show have industry connections. Zosia Mamet, anyone? She really is the ugly one, while Lena Dunham is plain average. |
Does anybody have to? |
+1000 |
She's a product of these parents:
"Her father, Carroll Dunham, is a painter of "overtly sexualized pop art", and her mother, Laurie Simmons, is a photographer and designer who creates artistic domestic scenes with dolls." She was destined to be .... different |
Lena Dunham = the millenial's woody Allen. Woody Allen is certainly no looker, and yet he somehow managed to cast himself opposite some beautiful women without being subjected to opprobrium for his looks. Hmmm wonder why .... |
That is too bad for the millennials. She is not nearly as talented as Woody Allen. |
Look how he holds her. Do you think she gives a shit what anyone thinks? Look at her man? Look how he holds her? Shit, I should be so lucky. |
I have no comment on her looks. But I think she's a horrible writer. I also think her acting is pretty bad. I think that she actually exploits the controversy over her body to her advantage (i.e. the only reason her name is well known is because she does a lot of nude scenes with an imperfect body). Aside from that, her show was pretty stupid. And frankly, it wouldn't have had enough viewers to continue to a second season if it weren't for the constant debate over her nudity. And any time a show needs shock value or controversy to survive, it's because it doesn't have much going for it otherwise. |
In this case, Lena Dunham is the want who started the controversy about how she looks. Her show has a lot of gratuitous nudity. And she puts it in there BECAUSE she wants to stir the pot and force people to comment on her body. She doesn't "put herself out there in unflattering ways" because it's important to the story line of the show. She does it in ORDER to put herself out there in an unflattering way and start a controversy about it. She has just about admitted this in interviews. Any time an actress decides to do lots of nudity to make a statement about nudity, then she is the one inviting the scrutiny over her body. |
But she does care. she TALKS about it ALL the time. And some of the comments she makes are actually insulting to other women (of all sizes). |
Sorry PP fat does not equal unattractive. What we are saying is regular size, thin or fat Lena ain't cute. Pierces wife is pretty. |
