Re firing the shrink: We don't know where the shrink is coming from. Being a shrink myself, I think it's possible that the suggestion for a tightly controlled meeting was a response to ambivalence from OP about contact w/her parents. I can't imagine pulling such a suggestion out of a hat.
Sometimes cutoffs are essential. It hardly ever makes them easy to live with. -Been there, both as therapist and cutter-off of parents |
