Romney's poll numbers are up? I'm leaving...

Just to be clear, which candidate (in your mind) is focusing on this in a major speech?

This is your chance to do an about face and say something to the effect "obviously I wasn't saying EITHER of them were focusing on Big Bird in a major speech". Even though we know ONE of them actually used Big Bird in a campaign ad! hahahahaha.

Let's be even more clear. Which candidate, when asked "how you would go about tackling the deficit problem", responded by saying he would get rid of Obamacare (a move that increases the deficit) and cut subsidies to PBS (adding that he loves Big Bird).

Whether you like it or not, whether you think it is important or not, Romney cited cutting funding to Big Bird as one of his top two deficit cutting policies. That is just about as clear as you can get.

Yes, it can be damaging when doing critical thinking on one's toes, but at least an attempt was made, wink wink. This is yet another example of demands for examples and the answer provided, just to be attacked.

What about the President's plan to "halve the deficit"? Dare we ask how he plans to accomplish that? Oh wait, House Republicans kept shoving new spending and programs at him, right?

The President's plan has always relied on ending the Bush tax cuts on income over $250,000. It is not new spending by the House Republicans, but their refusal to accept tax increases that is the problem.

I can't believe voters in this country are stupid enough to vote for the Etch A Sketch candidate! Suddenly Romney's poll numbers are UP! He's even with Obama! Who are these people who believe the lies Romney told in the so-called "debate" with Obama? Every day Romney gets more confident, and tells even bigger whoppers.

I agree with everyone that Obama is a disappointment as President and as a debater. If you judge that "debate" on how many lies each candidate told, then Romney is the clear winner. But does a fake smile, incredible audacity and a huge pile of switcheroo positions on basic issues important to swing voters make Romney suddenly worth voting for? What about the 47% that Romney abandoned, and now EMBRACES! He loves poor people! He wants to give the middle class a TAX BREAK! He will make insurance companies cover your kids and your pre-existing condition! Now all you swing voters, e.g. middle-class, middle aged white women, can vote for Romney! Yea!

I thought voters were incredibly stupid to vote for George W. Bush, but Romney takes the cake. He's worse than Dub-Ya, and I didn't know anyone could sink much lower.

My parents were Republicans, as were most of my aunts and uncles. They would not recognize this Republican party. I'm certain that, if Obama were labelled a Republican, they'd vote for him. They'd think Romney an outrageous outlier, not qualified to be President based on his lack of integrity alone, much less his brief resume in public service and his horrifying tin ear when it comes to international relations.

Why are Americans supporting this unbelievable creep, pathological "I'll say anything to get elected" liar Mitt Romney?

I dunno, and I don't want to live in a country that wants to be lead by a man like that. His poll numbers are looking better every day! I'm packing.

Really? You are surprised? With all of the challenges our country faced four years ago, they were naive enough to vote for an inexperienced community organizer. Our electoral process turned into an episode of American Idol. Regardless of what we think of either candidate, at least people are talking about real issues this time around.

I agree with PP 8:37. Romney mentioned BigBird and PBS once during the debate and only in passing. Obama seems to mention Big Bird every day and is spending money on an ad featuring Big Bird. This makes Obama seem desperate to me, like he doesn't have more important things to talk about. Sesame Street has even asked the Obama campaign to stop using Big Bird for his campaign and I agree, it's inappropriate.

Thanks. And it also shows how "out of touch" the president's campaign is...in the eyes of a Democratic columnist and former Clinton WH staffer.

Yes, Germany and Switzerland are really failing.

The OP didn't specify what european country.

I'd trade everything for a swiss passport tomorrow and leave tomorrow no matter who/what party is in power here.

Really?

Better learn how to use a gun, hate Muslims, have at least $1m to buy a house, have your sons serve in the Army, hope they never marry a foreigner as they'll never become citizens, work in banking (the only industry), oh and hate Jews.

Have fun.

Current gun-owner, have worked in finance (btw you really have no clue about Switzerland do you...biotech/pharma is absolutely massive there), home ownership is not the be all/end all dream for me, I support national service (I think the US should have a 2 year mandatory service like germany does), i'd want my son's to marry sexy swiss-miss who can speak 4 languages fluently, and don't really care if minarets are banned or not

OP, if you would leave not because Romney IS president but because you don't want to live in a country that WOULD elect him in some likely circumstances, then leave. Whether he wins or not, he'll get about half of the popular vote. It seems to be that that bothers you, so go.
