Let's be even more clear. Which candidate, when asked "how you would go about tackling the deficit problem", responded by saying he would get rid of Obamacare (a move that increases the deficit) and cut subsidies to PBS (adding that he loves Big Bird). Whether you like it or not, whether you think it is important or not, Romney cited cutting funding to Big Bird as one of his top two deficit cutting policies. That is just about as clear as you can get. |
Yes, it can be damaging when doing critical thinking on one's toes, but at least an attempt was made, wink wink. This is yet another example of demands for examples and the answer provided, just to be attacked. What about the President's plan to "halve the deficit"? Dare we ask how he plans to accomplish that? Oh wait, House Republicans kept shoving new spending and programs at him, right? |
The President's plan has always relied on ending the Bush tax cuts on income over $250,000. It is not new spending by the House Republicans, but their refusal to accept tax increases that is the problem. |
Really? You are surprised? With all of the challenges our country faced four years ago, they were naive enough to vote for an inexperienced community organizer. Our electoral process turned into an episode of American Idol. Regardless of what we think of either candidate, at least people are talking about real issues this time around. |
I agree with PP 8:37. Romney mentioned BigBird and PBS once during the debate and only in passing. Obama seems to mention Big Bird every day and is spending money on an ad featuring Big Bird. This makes Obama seem desperate to me, like he doesn't have more important things to talk about. Sesame Street has even asked the Obama campaign to stop using Big Bird for his campaign and I agree, it's inappropriate. |
Thanks. And it also shows how "out of touch" the president's campaign is...in the eyes of a Democratic columnist and former Clinton WH staffer. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/10/09/kirsten_powers_big_bird_ad_shows_obama_campaign_is_out_of_touch.html |
Current gun-owner, have worked in finance (btw you really have no clue about Switzerland do you...biotech/pharma is absolutely massive there), home ownership is not the be all/end all dream for me, I support national service (I think the US should have a 2 year mandatory service like germany does), i'd want my son's to marry sexy swiss-miss who can speak 4 languages fluently, and don't really care if minarets are banned or not |
OP, if you would leave not because Romney IS president but because you don't want to live in a country that WOULD elect him in some likely circumstances, then leave. Whether he wins or not, he'll get about half of the popular vote. It seems to be that that bothers you, so go. |
