If you could be in bounds anywhere...

This isn't true. Once your kid is in, you're in. If you move OOB your kid can still attend as long as you continue to live in the District.

Sorry, PP here not trying to be redundant. Looks like this was addressed a few times already.

This is so wrong to continute to spread this misinformation. This is not true. If it were, you would see a whole lot of folks moving to AU Park for a 1 month rental, establish residency and then move back EoTP. It is up to the principal.

Wrong indeed! If you get into a school OOB you can do what you want and stay in that school as long as you want (provided you stay in the District). If IB privileges got you into the school but you move OOB, you have to reapply through the OOB lottery. This isn't even at the principal's discretion, although I imagine that it's really hard for audits to keep track of that if a principal or administrator doesn't want to point it out.

Come to Hearst in Cleveland Park! Small, diverse school. Fantastic partnerships, arts integration, devoted PTA and most importantly a dynamic staff. Don't let the renovation and constantly changing administration deter you, this school is a gem in a rather dysfunctional school system!

Great and firendly teachers, very international atmosphere.

We were quite unahappy in our in boundary school about 2 miles away from Stoddert. The difference was so much, we thought we were in a different school system.

Are you willing to share which school you were unhappy with?

You have to prove residency when you are accepted at a given school. However, once you attend you are in as long as you continue to reside in the District. Principals do not make this choice. There has been a recent addition to the OOb rules that say if OOB children have 10 or more I excused tardies that they will not be able to return etc. This may allow principals some wiggle room that they didn't have before. The whole reason PS and PK lottery slots can be so coveted by non-IB families is because often once you get to K, there are no OOB slots. BUT, if you are in as a PS or PK student, you remain in without having to reapply. So again, if you are in, you are in--as log as you stay in te District. I'd say if your principal is making decisions like you noted (without the tardy rule)you may want to notify DCPS.
