School is asking to bump DD to the next grade

I also skipped.

I'm of two minds here: I remember being bored, and I was always able to keep up academically with the older kids. Did well in high school and in my last three years of college. (Freshman year was so rough ... I'm impressed I survived at all.)

I was on the younger side for my "natural" (?) grade, and I was a kid with normal to slightly below average emotional intellect/maturity.

I think (though don't know) that I would have been best off skipping and taking a gap year later. I wasn't ready to be a thousand miles from home at 17. But every kid is different, and what was or wasn't right for me might not be what's right or wrong for your DD.
