Buying and razing a home in Pimmit Hills

Of course the quality of construction in some North Arlington is superior to PH. The PH market will not support a $2M house; it's not a million-plus neighborhood, and N. Arlington is. Of course you can build a better house with a million an a half vs. $800K.

But it's not right to say that anything less expensive than top of the market is crap. Come on. You can build a perfectly good house with less than a million. It won't be as great as a 2-million house, but it won't be crap.

And again, PH has no monopoly on McMansions. Anything you see in PH you can find elsewhere.

The usual pattern here is for a PH booster to start claiming PH is the next North Arlington, McLean or whatever. And then when someone points out that this is nuts, some other PH poster comes along and claims everyone is picking on PH, a modest neighborhood full of truly humble people just looking for a nice house with a reasonable commute. It's a very familiar tag-team effort.

So, yeah, the history here is quite relevant.

And again, PH has no monopoly on McMansions, but the comparisons to nicer areas like North Arlington are preposterous.

There are ways of debunking the PH vs. N. Arlington comparison without calling PH as a shithole and the very last place any Person of Style and Substance would want to live. That's what brings on the honest neighborhood defenders like me who like PH but would never compare it to N. Arlington. I don't tag with anyone.

There is MORE THAN ONE PH person, BTW. hate to break it to you.

The additions in McLean are hideous, i would take PH ANY day.

If a trailer park got married to the worst exurb on earth, their bastard offspring would be Pimmit Hills. Please go away.

Bastard offspring in a marriage? Might you need a refresher on the concept of bastardry?

Loved all the home links I saw yesterday on Real Estate and Home Improvement (that Cali thread), could you all post the type of house I can expect if I move to PH?

Haha thats an addition, actually a pretty good addition that fooled you into thinking it is a new build.

Bellow is a typical new build in pimmit. There are a dozen higher end which are usually owner occupied teardowns that don't hit the mls unitil years down when they sell.

Thanks so much PP, that gives me some idea of my options.

God, that house at 19:37 is hideous. Hate it when the garage is more prominent than the front entrance.
