Huh? Cute dad wearing a gold band on his right ring finger...

PP here.

I quick search and this is what I could find:

"Differences In Culture. Not all cultures believe that the wedding ring should be placed on the left hand. In countries like Poland, Greece, India and Colombia, the wedding band belongs on the right hand, not the left."

I'd hardly say that Poland/Greece/India and Columbia are the 'majority' of the world.

NP here. I'm gay and married to my husband. We are in our mid thirties. Gay couples remotely near our age or younger do not wear wedding rings on the right hand. It is very 1980 thing to wear it on your right ring finger. I cannot imagine another gay man wearing a ring on right ring finger unless he is at least 50+.

In response to two other questions posed

An earring meaning gay is also 1980s. By the 1990s it was common for straight men.

And, Anderson Cooper is gay. I say this with 100% certainty.

So then do you wear a ring on your left ring finger or not at all? You're saying it's the more "old-school" gay men who wear rings on the right finger? Interesting. I met 2 married men (in 50's) last night who both had rings on- but I guess I didn't realize which hand.

I am close friends with a gay couple. Both men are past the 50 mark. They wear Dior bands on their left ring finger. gorgeous bands, btw!

Earrings are a thing of the 80s; I say that as an 80s gal who clubbed with my hippest gay male pals - partying at bars that were truly "gay" at the time.

And Anderson, sadly for us straight gals, is gay . . . Chalk one up for your side, PP!

PP here. We wear ours on our left ring fingers. And I didn't mean to suggest that all gay 50+ year olds wear wedding bands on the right ring fingers, only that those less than 50 (give or take) would not wear them on their right.

India is the second most populous country in the world. FYI.

I'm a married straight woman, currently wearing wedding band on my right hand due to a nasty rash I got under my ring on my left ring finger. Maybe he's just itchy like me.

Exactly. And Russia is the biggest country in the world. Many other countries also wear on right hand, big countries or small. The statement about majority is correct.
