My father had terminal cancer and we had in home hospice at my home for him. We were extremely close but he had expressed several times he didnt really want people around when he died (this was his personality). He had a nurse "Mary" who came in every day for months. When he was close to death we hired a second night nurse for extra coverage. When "Mary" was on duty watched him like a hawk especially after he slipped into unconsciousness. One night after "Mary's" shift ended the other nurse came in. The night nurse had just arrived, my father seemed stable and I had 45 minutes before I had to give him more meds, so I layed down the couch. My sister was there next to me and encouraged me to take a nap but within 5 minutes it felt like an electric shock was going from my feet up to my head. I stood straight up and looked around to see everything appeared in order. My sensible side, could not stop my legs from running all the way into my father’s room. The first thing I saw was the nurse, sleeping, in a chair. I turned to my father and watched him take his last breath.
I truly believe my father waited for “Mary” to leave before he passed but didn’t expect the bond between us to wake me up. It was the most eerie thing that ever happened to me but it was also one of the most blessed. |
| Has anyone ever noticed how cats seem to know when a family member is about to arrive home? Even when people arrived at times that weren't normal to our routine my cat would go and jump in the window and give a single meow about 2 minutes before the person pulled up in the car. Is there an explanation for that? |
Yes, that they heard the car coming. |
| No, car was more that 5 blocks away on busy road when it jumped up. I dont think a cats hearing is that good. If it was on the same block I think that would be a good explanation. |
| My brother had been under hospice care for weeks, and we knew the end was coming, but his condition seemed only slightly worse that day. My husband had just arrived the day before with our two-year old son. It was a small house, and I realized I didn't know where my little boy was. I went looking, and discovered that, completely by himself, in the middle of the day, in a strange house, my two year old son had found his bed, and climbed into it and gone to sleep. Something told me I needed to go check on my brother. My brother was calm and relaxed, outwardly unchanged, but I sat down and, within minutes, watched him die. Much activity followed, as we called hospice and the funeral home came to take my brother's body. My son slept through the whole thing, waking just after the hearse disappeared down the street. |
| I had a weird experience today. I forgot to set my alarm and would have overslept today. I was awakened by being roughly shaken. I am a single parent and my kids were asleep in another room I opened my eyes and saw I was a little late, but not TOO late - made it to work and school on time. I swear it felt like someone shook me awake. |
Was it seizures or an earthquake or construction? |
Seriously, I wondered that myself. I looked up earthquakes, does not seem to have been one today. No construction in our burb. Seizure - never happened before. |
| I think your subconscious knew you HAD to get up at the usual set time, but also that you had forgotten to set the clock, so you got a vivid dream about being awakened by shaking. |
