Inspired Teaching School

Anonymous
My wife and I are planning to go tonight. Our son will be starting Kindergarten this year. We are hoping to meet as many teachers as show up and hopefully many of the other families as well. If you went to the other open houses, you may want to show up just to meet others and to talk with the teachers as well.

PP-What school are your children coming from for the K class?

Also, have you introduced yourself on the Inspired Teaching Google group. It's up and running.

Did anyone attend the open house last night? Was there any new info discuss?

@ 15:35 How was the Open House? Have you changed your mind or confirmed your choice?

@09:57 We went last night and met a few of the teachers, including the Kindergarten teacher. I'm not sure what is new to you, specifically, but we learned more about the daily schedule and they had a calendar printed up as well. I like that they have figured out a flexiple pick up and drop off schedule which is more adequate for us. The drop offs and class start times are structured smartly so that the younger kids (PreS & PreK) have a later start time and earlier end time. K is another tier and then 1st through 3rd tier which starts earlier than K and classes go later as well. They also went more in depth into a typical day schedule. There will be at least two outside times each day. They intend to get outside as often as possible. They have an outdoor garden planned. The other new thing I learned that I am extremely excited about is the intersessions. There will be two intersessions during the year at which time there will be school wide participation in various activities for an entire week. The options are based on their preferences, varying from anything like archery to robotics. These can be just about any activity, and parents can volunteer to offer their skillsets here as well.

Thanks. Didn't know about the flexible pick up and drop off schedule. Two weeks ago my kids were 2 & 3 on the K waitlist. My oldest is already in. I think some additional people will shake out so hopefully I'll have an opportunity to meet you in the Fall.

PP - Yes I am sure that there will likely still be some movement over the summer as people (like myself) who received multiple options finalize their choices. I wish you luck and look forward to meeting you as well.

To the person who attended the open house last night - do you remember what the drop off and pick up times were for the PS-PK kids?
Thanks!

PP - I don't remember at the moment. I can give you that info, when I get home from work and check the handout.

Does anyone know of people who are holding a spot at IT but probably won't keep it? If so, what are they waiting on?

OP here--Two kids in, one to go.

Just received a call this evening. Second kid is number one of the waitlist, so hopefully it will continue to move over the next few weeks and I can stop driving my husband insane.

Posting this type of info on the Google Group would be a smart move on the school's part so that we get the "official word" and don't have to rely on kind-hearted parents who are willing to share what they heard at the open house.

I think right now Zoe is a one man band. Tony was out on vacation this past week and I have no idea when the full staff will come on board. I would expect communications to be very spotty through July. Welcome the the world of a brand new charter.
