Inspired Teaching School

Has anyone moved up (or off) the waitlist since the second round cut off last Wednesday (5/25)? I called the school several times last week but was unable to get any information from anyone in the office. (I emailed the principal, but never received a response). Also, with regard to waitlists (generally speaking)...is there usually movement in June, or do I need to--at this point-- prepare myself to wait until mid August? (This is my first full year with DCPS).

Nope, nothing and we are number 1 on WL.

What grade are you number 1 on the waitlist for?

Emailed last week. No response.

They were great about responding late April, early May; but it's been down hill since then. I was very impressed at first, but I've called and sent 3 emails this month and haven't received any response. I'm a little concerned. I hope this isn't an indication of how things will operate when the school opens.

I emailed Tony in late May and received a prompt response. My question was a simple, administrative one and I did not bother to go the principal, however, so that may explain why my experience has continued to be positive with respect to timely communication.

PP, FYI: my son was #9 on the PS wait list and he got in a few weeks ago.

FYI: I think there will lots more movement on the wait list. We moved up from way down. Good News!

Yes there was a lot of movement the first wave. We went from 21 to #1 on ps list. However, we haven't seen any movement since the latest deadline last Wed.

I did speak with someone at the school today. It looks like they will be making a second round of waitlist calls later this week or early next week. Apparently the principal is out of town and they are waiting for her to return so they can reconcile the list. I've said a prayer and crossed my fingers, so I'm hoping I don't have to wait until August to know where my kids will be going in the Fall.

I'm sorry but that is not acceptable. Why would they need the principal to reconcile the list? If the principal is out of town, why is there not someone capable filling in? I say this with all due respect, I sincerely liked the principal when I met her. However, it's already frightening enrolling in a new charter as is, why impound that fear by showing that your admin is so dependent upon one person? Not a good sign at all. Why can't the list be delegated? Is the staff not adequate with admin? Is the principal a micro manager? All of these things come to mind. I am re-thinking our 10ish spot on list strictly because of this.

You should re-think it. I am sure the person behind you on the wait list would appreciate it.

I think you may not be happy in a start up charter. As a parent who has been in one.
