Preg 1, 1st Cycle, Ended in Miscarriage at 6 weeks (age 30)
Preg 2, 6th Cycle, Ended in Miscarriage at 12 weeks (age 31) Preg 3, 6th Cycle, Had DC - hooray! (age 32) Preg 4, 2nd Cycle, Chemical Pregnancy (age 34) Not so easy for everyone but certainly easy for some. |
| 34 years old got pregnant the second cycle after I went off the Pill. I was always irregular pre-Pill so we just had sex every other day the entire time we were trying other than during my period. |

29 - 1st cycle
30 - not trying/surprise! 33 - 2nd cycle 38-39 - 14th cycle (2 chemical pregnancies during this time); delivered healthy full-term baby at 40 So I would say yes, it absolutely gets harder as you approach your 40s. |
| 10 months, turned 35 the month before it happened. |
| Age 32, took 9 cycles. Like a previous poster, as it turns out I was ovulating almost a full week later than the charting would have predicted. |

34 - pregnant after trying 15 months, ended in miscarriage
35 - 3 months 37 - 3 months I wouldn't get panicked until after one year, personally. Just like people don't tell you about their own miscarriages until you've had one of your own, I think that people on average take longer to conceive than you hear about. |
| Argh - help! At least two women on this thread said that temping mislead them as to the ovulation day by more than a few days. I am panicking -- this is possible? I have very irregular cycles so we have sex frequently before O starting when I get creamy CM and try to do at least every other day until and including the first temp spike. Could I be off by a week? |
| 28 one cycle |
| When I wanted to get pregnant we just had sex every other day for a month. It worked both times - 29 and 31. |
Well, I will say that nothing is fool proof. If you really think you are missing your window, perhaps you could try a secondary method, like Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPK's)? As far as temping is concerned, your body temp can rise, indicating ovulation, but then drop again, showing you have delayed ovulation due to stress, or other issues. I think the most important thing is to see the sustained temperature rise (ie 3+ days of temps above the cover line). Also, while everyone is different, pay attention to your other CM signs. Do you get EW CM? This is usually another good indicator of O, though it would be best to combine all the methods for a more certain O confirmation. If you still have issues, you can go to your OB or a fertility doctor who will run blood test to confirm that O has actually taken place. Good luck! |
| Age 37, second month of trying was successful. We used an ovulation predictor kit and had sex once a day for a few days prior to ovulation through a few days after. Worked shockingly well! Prior to this, I hadn't used any birth control system for 5 years. |
