I don’t think I’m familiar with the other songs on your list, but I’ll have to check them out. I love One Day Like This. |

Will always be “Tears In Heaven” by Eric Clapton.
I literally cry every time I hear this particular song. |

"Only You" - Yazoo
https://youtu.be/h6YuR0ix2jM (this performance is some 1982 amazingness) Jeff Buckley - Dido's Lament https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA5UAbl1OWY |

One of the most amazing performances I've seen is Carol Spinney performing "It's not Easy Being Green" as Big Bird at Jim Henson's funeral. You can tell Spinney is weeping but he stays in character the whole time.

Don't You Forget About Me (Simple Minds) - we weren't meant to be, but there was so much more we could have done
Forever Young (Alphaville) - my mom encouraged me to go back to school and like clockwork, this song would come on when driving home Heroes (David Bowie) - powerful reminder of love with challenges I Can See Clearly Now (Jimmy Cliff version) - if this doesn't make you feel better, nothing will Things We Said Today (The Beatles) - being with someone at its simplest One Tree Hill (U2) - haunting lines of grief Ten Years Gone (Led Zeppelin) - for the one you never forget |
Just do the steps that you've been shown By everyone you've ever known Until the dance becomes your very own No matter how close to yours another's steps have grown In the end there is one dance you'll do alone [...] Into a dancer you have grown From a seed somebody else has thrown Go on ahead and grow some seeds of your own And somewhere between the time you arrive And the time you go May lie a reason you were alive That you'll never know Wow. What a songwriter. |

A couple oldies but goodies

Ill give you a sample of my favorite lines From Long Ride Home which is about a husband driving home from his wife's funeral: Forty years go by with someone laying in your bed Forty years of things you wish you'd never said How hard would it have been to say some kinder words instead I wonder as I stare up at the sky turning red From Ring on the Sill,, about a couple's engagement. I've been married for 45 years and these words still ring true. And they're thinking of the long road ahead and the strength that they will need just to reach the end And there in the silence they search for the balance between this fear that they feel and a love that has graced their lives |
I posted the INXS song. Just that one. No other version exists for me. Just as the person it reminds me of. Extraordinary. |
DP, these sound like pure poetry! |
