Yes. |
There’s much less internal conflict if its not Evan. The story dropped the breadcrumbs along the way and it should pay off like it was set up. I don’t need a surprise for the sake of being surprised. |
Some things not fully clear to me: his mom was pregnant on the boat...so was he born on the island or not? If not, how is he bound by the curse of death if he leaves? Also: if Matthew Rhys didn't believe in superstitions or know much about them until this recent wave of events, why would he not have taken Evan to the mainland yet, since he said he himself had been to the mainland several times? |

Did you not watch the last episode???
Lauren started having a medical emergency as soon as she reached the water boundary so they turned around and Evan was born on the island. Loftis was pretending to not believe, or was in deep denial (but not really when it came to letting Evan leave the island), but his main goal was to bring tourists to the island in order to revive it, so Evan could at least live in a pleasant, prosperous place if he can’t escape it. So he had to downplay and outright deny the curse and everything that went with it. |
| Evan is the last descendant. He is Ruth’s grandson. |

I assume Bechir got his wife the heck out of there as soon as the storm let up.
The storm let up because of the ‘sacrifice’ of the guy who got locked in the creepy room in the basement. The demon ate him I guess? But the demon wants 8 more… |
No, in fact, I did not watch the last episode! It just seemed so inevitable that it would be Evan, and I think narrative inevitability is boring, I am more interested in a show that subverts my expectations. Oh well. |
I'm the PP above that knew it had to be Evan somehow even when they said it was Ruth and she had no kids... so it still was a twist on how they got there. And they keep offering lots of things to chew on so I don't think it's inevitable. Apparently the writer took 10 years to put it together including that geneology and they island myth. It feels fresh to me 🤷♀️. I am interested to know how people can't leave the island and how they find it out. Over generations people would have expected to go to the mainland! Can't turn every ferry around because one person is sick. Also the sacrifices. They have a lot of explaining on how it was a system with videos and then was forgotten. |
How do we know the demon "wants 8 more"? |
Because the bell tolls for every sacrifice it wants and it tolled 9 times in episode 2 and then 8 times at the very end of finale, after the guy got trapped in the room and killed. The show has a lot of details and people need to maybe pay more attention and stop watching while scrolling their phones. |
What is wrong with you? One can miss that detail (which might not even be correct) without "watching while scrolling." |
NP. The detail is correct. This is a show where you need to pay full attention. It’s great, but you miss a lot if you casually watch. |
I don't disagree with the substance of that comment, I took issue with the tone. |
