That doesn’t mean it’s worse than Trevor. Academically and socially CGPS is better. Nice families with a head on their shoulder are scooped up by the better schools. Those that cannot behave for a simple interview get shafted to schools like Trevor. |
I don't personally know what Trevor is like but I don't think, "socially" it can get worse than CGPS. My acquaintances that go to Trevor are plenty nice and nothing like the CGPS families. |
If talking about how Trevor is up and coming and now 2T is your idea of an appropriate conversation 50% of the time, then the Trevor community is great for you. They’re obsessed |
Trevor clearly pissed in someone’s Cheerios. No one is arguing it is HM or Trinity. But it isn’t a crap school. I know a bunch of nice families and smart kids who very specifically chose it. Several of whom chose it over Columbia. Though I think there is a lot of overlap. |
Good job putting your cape on for Trevor. Even if better than CGPS, that’s 20 schools listed that are better and that list forgets many better options. Trevor is such a waste of money it should be criminal. Just go to one of the better UWS publics and give your kid the tuition dollars. They’ll thank you later. |
1/3 of Speyer's Class this year went to these schools. Many went to big boarding schools. A handful went to Stuy or Bronx Science. It's a class of 32. |
But I heard a ton of families don’t want the TT cutthroat culture and choose to go to Trevor instead. Speyer’s list is bad without healthy dose of Trevor |
So in your opinion is Speyer better than Trevor? I noticed you didn't include it in your list. |
It’s not at all TT but you’re far more likely to end up at one applying out at median than if you tried transferring out at Trevor at median. Trevor charging as much as it does is a joke, go to public at that point. |
First of all, the childish nastiness is not necessary. So sad. Second, I am mainly focused on HS. My kids actually did go to good UWS publics. But not for HS. They did not go to Trevor. But I know many people who did and were very happy there and did well. Grow up. |
Why are you begging for information from this opinionated clown? You are acting like they are an expert. Would you take guidance from someone who speaks like that? Really? Personally, I would generally do the opposite to stay away from people like that. Not that I 100% disagree with them. But their tone is uncalled for. |

Basic take on tiers of private schools:
If $70k/year is a significant burden to you and you don't qualify for financial aid, your kid is almost certainly better off going to public school - even compared to a "TT" private where they would be one of the poor/unconnected kids - and having you use the ~$1.5M or so with interest that you saved to buy them their first house/apartment and start them off with a healthy savings account. If $70k/year is something you can afford easily, going to Trevor or CGPS or Calhoun or LREI or Dwight or whatever is not likely to be *worse* for them then public school, and having a nice clean building with small class sizes and somebody to call about every little problem is a nice luxury. |
Are you the one who asked if Trevor “pissed” in my Cheerios? I certainly didn’t speak that way or start this “nastiness.” A lot of people are happy they put their life savings and college fund on black at the Vegas roulette table. It doesn’t mean it was a good idea. If you are focused on HS then don’t bother with Trevor. Stick to the public schools. I hope Trevor is paying you to rep them. I wouldn’t say these things for free. |
Go ask if Trevor pissed in my Cheerios a second time. You can be as nasty as you want when rightfully pointing out that spending close to a million dollars K-12 to attend a scam like Trevor is a horrible idea |
Honestly I wouldn’t even put Trevor next to CGPS or LREI. Those have at least served long standing niches and communities. Trevor is a joke given how many better 3T schools there are close by. |
