Where do girls in bottom 25% at Visi and SR go to college

Real answer? Wherever their mommies and daddies went. Because grades and pay matter much less for those schools.

In the fall of junior year, Holton provides info to parents about the grade distribution and the corresponding schools that girls in each quintile had attended in the past.

For the lowest 20 percentile, the corresponding GPA range in DD’s class was 2.6-3.4. The schools mentioned included: American U, Kenyon, Oberlin, Mount Holyoke, Penn State, Pitzer, Reed. (Frankly, these are fantastic options; it was a positive surprise.)

Under a 3.0 gets you into those schools?

No. Kids at Holton going to these schools have way higher than a 3.0

Yes, and other factors beyond grades are looked at as well. Such as fit and extracurriculars and if they apply early or regular decision.

Apply ED - Full Pay coming from those schools even if you are in the bottom 1/2, you are well prepared for college

They are not getting into Syracuse or NYU. The others are on point.

Yes to Syracuse if full pay.

You consider Richmond accessible to the lower 25% of the SR or Visi class? Uh hard no. It’s in top 25 usnwr

According to Scoir, Syracuse has not rejected a single Holton girl (out of 59 applicants) over the past 5 years. The average GPA of an admitted student is 3.6, with the lowest around 2.8. (As a reference, 3.6 at Holton is the bottom 30 percent or so).

Holy grade inflation over NCS (average GPA there is around a 3.5).

That’s weighted GPA.

With enough money I would guess...anywhere the f-ing want to because we live in a corrupt Epstein class fake democracy.

What if your DD has a 3.2?

Delaware, Elon, Maryland schools like Salisbury, Frostburg, Rutgers, maybe SEC schools like South Carolina though the influx of northerners is changing the admits at some of them

Are Visi and SR graduates really going to Frostburg and Salisbury? Seems unlikely.

This. From years past, schools like providence college and fairfield U were possible from bottom 25%, as well as schools like Sewanee, American, College of Charleston, Clemson, and some need aware SLAC like conn college, denison, muhlenburg, dickinson, wooster.

Average gpa for Fairfield is 3.9. https://www.fairfield.edu/admission-and-aid/apply/first-year-applicants/admission-profile/

Um…that’s a weighted GPA across the many grade-inflated schools that litter our nation. Unweighted is probably an 3.2 or so, likely right around the 25th percentile at Visi. Only 38% submit scores with 1370 as the mid-point of those who report. That means the middle point of test scores would probably be around 1230-1250 if everyone reported. Again, this is not what one would normally associated with a 20% admission rate.

They’re playing the Northeastern game, but not as well and with less impressive marketing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Visi has a nearly 100% acceptance rate of their applicants to Fairfield. It’s a strong girls Catholic high school, which Fairfield will prioritize for admission. You have to look at Visi’s college admissions data and not the outward facing public info for Fairfield generally.

I just checked out of curiosity-it's almost 100%. If your GPA is 3.4 or higher the heatmap is 100% acceptance, I only see 2 rejections total in the last 4 years. Some outstanding waitlisted students that I assume will be updated soon with this year's data.
