Apply ED - Full Pay coming from those schools even if you are in the bottom 1/2, you are well prepared for college

If 3.6 is the bottom 25% that’s some nice grade inflation going on there.

They are not getting into Syracuse or NYU. The others are on point.

I know 3.6 ED student off to NYU from a private high school that is not as rigorous as Visi or Stone Ridge. NYU loves ED / Full Pay.

3.6 makes them not relevant to the conversation. Unless the grade inflation has really gotten that bad.

Why are people
Putting NYU? The acceptance rate is 7%, and their mid SAT average is higher than most of the top Visi girls in Scoir

People are using old information/experience. People who haven’t had a first hand experience with college admissions in the past 5-10 years have no idea how competitive it is now.

NYU plays the same game as NEU…It’s 7% if you don’t include all of the people they accept to start at one of the other campuses. Apply early, be full pay and your odds are not quite Tulane ED, but still 35-40%.

NYU?

My kid has a 3.2 at one of these two high schools and she feels massive pressure and stress about college

What Major? If theatre, that tracks.

But bottom 25% at VISI do not have a 3.6 UW!

This. From years past, schools like providence college and fairfield U were possible from bottom 25%, as well as schools like Sewanee, American, College of Charleston, Clemson, and some need aware SLAC like conn college, denison, muhlenburg, dickinson, wooster.

She will have good options. Please reassure her of this and work on getting her to adjust her viewpoint on what a "good" college is - I know how hard it is, I've worked in private schools for decades and have my own kids who went through it/are going through it, but it really is true! She'll have good options and she has every opportunity to have a fantastic experience in college.

Just go on instagram. Both schools have specific social media accounts solely for where the girls go to college. Although it doesn’t say class rank, you can still see where everyone goes to college.
