White women stupidly elected a conman felon.

White people need to clean up their mess.

Black women can rightfully put their feet up.

—white woman who understood the assignment and is giving a side-eye to her very disappointing fellow GenX

What’s up with people announcing what age group they’re in by way of the name given. Why not just say I’m 55 if you think age is relevant.

No, Black women cannot put their feet up. They live in this country. Everyone needs to step up. The White women mostly in northern states who voted for Harris are stepping up.

No, you cannot talk to people like that. There is a problem with the No King rallies attracting a certain segment only. Why? Figure it out. If you don’t want to figure it out then go ahead and scream into the wind at a rally that accomplishes nothing.

Ok. Putting feet up is definitely the answer. That's going to get so much done.

It would have the same outcome.

It helps energize the vote. At this point, the idea of trudging down to the polls to vote for a republican is absolutely depressing. The task is to energize people to vote for Democrats which is possible and this will assist.

But it’s not true that these protests only attract a certain segment of the population. Have you been to one? Also, looking forward to some former MAGA joining this one. They might have some excellent signs! Like the “I’m an idiot” PA woman. And they will be welcome. It’s time for all hands on deck at this point.

Yes, my friend dragged me to one.

The only women of color I saw were of a certain age and married to white men.

There in lies the problem.

The Demcoratic party has done nothing to differentiate themselves from the Republican Party. Look at our leadership. You all are grasping at straws. It’s so pitiful and pathetic.

If you don't know the difference between run-of-the-mill useless politcians and a demented oligarch who claims to be the world's biggest Christian but is actually the seven deadly sins personified then I don't know what to tell you.

I would tell them to go put their feet up and steer clear. The GOP is circling the bowl and it is best to stay out of the way if you don't want to get flushed.

Anonymous wrote:Very curious to see what the turnout will be. Since the last one, two American citizens were executed by ICE, Trump has begun a war in the Middle East, sent the economy into a tailspin and so much more.

Need 12 million people to reach the 3.5% at which change is effected.

June 2025 was about 4 to 6 million and October was 5 to 7 million.

That 3.5% threshold is just a magical theory. It does not have any basis in reality. You can cherry pick all sorts of conclusions based upon selective interpretations of data. This is threshold is not a scientific law of nature and it should be treated with skepticism.

It’s a theory for sure. Not sure why you say it’s magical though. The point is that once a large enough percentage of the population objects, then those in power take notice and tend to adjust accordingly.

It’s not unreasonable to expect that Congress will realize that Trump is not the only master and that Americans want the constitution to be adhered to.

Which really shouldn’t even be something any American needs to protest for. But here we are.

That's not actually the theory though. The theory is in regard to participation in a general strike. Getting 3.5% of Americans to show up to a park to scream into the void will not inspire Congress to suddenly give AF.

Whereas getting 3.5% of Americans to stop spending money and showing up to work would bring the country and the economy to a halt. THAT is what would make Congress possibly start doing their jobs.

Poster protests do not scare those in power. An economic stoppage would. But Americans are a selfish and cowardly people. Posters give boomer white women the feeling of activism without having to actually do something of consequence.

And your snarking on the internet does even less. The rest of us will be out there trying to do something.

My snarking will have literally the same affect—none at all. Yours is worse because you'll tell yourself you did something rather than, you know, actually doing something.

IDK why folks think that these protests are one-off events. You bring folks in, you build support, you organize to take actions between the protests, etc. It's clear many of you are neither familiar with history or have taken action to create change, whether in your community, state, or national level.

What action have you taken as a result of attending these protests? Because from my view, most people think these protests ARE the action, and it frustrates me and makes these protests look silly. No one in Congress is moved by your posters. They will go in to their next session and do exactly as they already were. If us simply being mad mattered, we wouldn't be here.

Again, you do not really understand how organizing works here or around the world. Rosa Parks didn't happen in a day. Nor did Mandela or Walesa.

I canvas neighborhoods, call voters, raise money for candidates, etc.

TBH, I'm not really concerned about your frustration. If you are not able to figure out a role or wrestle with history, then that reflects more on you than Indivisible, etc. GOP congressionals retiring, choosing to run as independents, etc., indicates some folks on the Hill are paying attention to polls, posters, and bodies in the street even if you can't make sense of it.

Well, Black women put in a lot of work to elect Kamala, so I don't think it is really on their shoulders to make these changes.

Can we end the "I've done more than you" pissing contest?!

Lots of people have supported these marches, lots of people supported Kamala Harris, lots of people support causes that directly affect them and support causes just because they are right and in the interest of society.

The US as a whole is in a horrible fix rigth now that is bad for everyone (except maybe the centi-millionaires and up). We should all do what we can do and what we think is worthwhile.

Our fellow non-rapacious citizens are not the enemy.

These MAGA mouth breathers ^^ are soooo scared. Look for more fake Dems leading up to this event. Keep turning Congress and state houses blue! We're on a roll from 2025.

FTR, I don't think pointing out folks' bad takes on No Kings is a pissing contest largely because of your point - we should all do what we can. If pointing out that Dave and Debbie Downer do not really understand how to make change is a pissing contest, I'll keep doing it as your point is right on the money.

Someone just excused me of not knowing how to organize. I am a community organizer.

You need to fix the problem in the Demcoratic party and then you’ll be able to get everybody on board. Until you do that you can have all the No King rallies you want. You’re not going to attract people beyond your own kind.

If you are a community organizer, then you know that is not how organizing works. Or you pursue some splinter sect of organizing that cannot point to any success because you are so focused on being right.

If we are a “they” to you, perhaps you’re not the best person to tell us what we can and “cannot” do.

Yes, I get that posts like these are likely seeded on threads like these to spread divisions. My point though, is that few people have the standing to tell the most consistent and cohesive group of voters and activists that we “need to step up”. In one way or another, I have “stepped up” every day of my life. You?

Black woman here. Not risking my life for yall anymore, thanks. We've done our marching, our campaigning, our pleading for change, our voting. Yall rejected us and voted for Trump. Like PP said, you all can fix it now. I wash my hands of it. I will do what I can to protect myself and my family, and if things get bad enough I will leave. But I couldn't give less of AF about this country and most of the people in it at this point, and I too am side eyeing most white people over the age of 35. You all say the right things, but the votes reveal the truth. And most white people might not hate people like me, but you don't care enough to sacrifice literally anything. So I'm done. Clean up your own mess.

Everyone, welcome Michelle Obama to the chat.

Erika? Is that you? White sheets and all.
