What cheap shampoo are you currently using? And how is it?

I have very dry/damaged hair & I currently use L’Real shampoos ➕ conditioners.

The ones that come in the black & gold bottles (for severely damaged hair) as well as the ones that come in the lavender bottles too.

These are remarkably good at an excellent price tag.

I just want to thank the OP and everyone for this thread. It is so helpful!

NP here, and I, too, appreciate these suggestions.

Several people recommended Loreal Everpure. There seem to be several kinds within this line - one that moisturizes, one that strengthens/repairs, one that shines.

Can anyone give guidance on which kind they like and why? I have years of color treated hair (every 6 weeks- I’m fully grey underneath!), it’s frizzy if left alone but can be easily blown straight by a stylist and I can never coax a curl out of it, it just is frizzy. It’s also thinning thanks to menopause.

I have used Pantene Pro V basically since I stopped using baby shampoo. I’m 45 now. In my early 20’s I experimented with some salon shampoos but saw no difference whatsoever. I have straight, medium-thickness hair.

Trader Joe's tea tree oil
I like it better than the Aveda rosemary

They have a quiz to help you find the right products for your hair:

I don’t color my hair, but I also have thinning hair (thanks to perimenopause) and wavy hair that gets frizzy. I’ve used both their thickening and volume lines. They’re good products at a nice price point and widely available.

Does anyone’s dh use their shamooo? Dh refuses to use cheaper shampoo and says he’ll use whatever I use. Except his hair is 1/2 inch long and mine is curly and down my back. I’m grumpy about spending $$$ and he’s using it all up.

No he needs v05. What do you use? DH uses whatever he doesn't care. He even offers to "use" up shampoo I didn't like or made my hair flat.

If he barely has any hair, why is he using it all up? And why does he claim he needs to use your shampoo instead of a cheaper one?

Suave Daily Cleanser.
I really like it, and I love the price!

I had such high hopes for Kristin Ess and bought the shampoo/conditioner, the volumizing spray and the leave-in conditioner spray. All worked very well and I loved how my hair looks, but I find the scent really offputting. It's hard to describe, but my impression was that it's trying to be unusual and sophisticated but instead to me smelled like flowers + sandalwood + furniture polish. It's also strongly scented to the point I find it really nauseating. I never bought the shampoo/conditioner again and only rarely use the other products now.
