A lot of women want to be this person and a lot of men don’t. My mom would love this and my dad completely refuses to travel anymore. I’m only 40 and this sounds great but my husband is already grumbling about travel. He said this year that he’d prefer only road trips from now on because air travel is too stressful. I guess I’ll be traveling with my friends. |
| I haven’t tried it since the last attempt, but I don’t think I’d travel internationally with my parents again. They expected me to arrange everything and play tour guide and gave few opinions to help guide me. I was working full time with kids, they were retired, yet all the organizing fell to me. But, at least they didn’t complain about my choices and generally did go with the flow. It was still stressful! |

No longer concerned about obtaining foreign currency before the trip. Now I use the atm at the airport wherever we land to have some cash on hand. Not concerned about transaction cost.
No longer concerned about buying expensive bags oversees. If I want a bag, I buy it in the US. |
I don’t think I would put any effort into a lighthouse, but castles, churches, temples….sigh..I love them all.. |
They look alike after a while. |
Only if you don’t know anything about architecture, etc. |
| Trendy food halls. They are popping up all over the world. No interest in paying restaurant prices for take out and then fighting for an uncomfortable seat. |
For a day or two. Then anxiety sets in because you have done nothing but sit. |
My brother(or sister) from another mother! You should see my refrigerator! |
and the steel door that leads to the garage! |
I'm glad I went to quite a few of the churches. When being taught about the Protestant Reformation, I heard a fair amount about objections to the ornate Catholic churches - unnecessarily dressing up religion while the people starved or what have you. I sort of understood those critiques intellectually, but didn't really get it at a gut level until I actually toured some of the places. Being in those places, I could envision being a reformer, thinking that the Church had lost its way - more focused on material concerns than spiritual ones. |
I will get a magnet if the kids aren't with me. On family trips, we try to buy every day items - clothes usually. And then we call it 'My London Hoodie', clothes in other places are just slightly different to be special, yet functional. |
Same. |
Same, we're in DMV with a million+ restaurants. Unless it's a local dish to the area - I'm not hunting down/waiting at "trending" restaurants that's on/below par from home, waste of vacation time. |
| Not me, I try to see and do more, not less. |
