Or leave and drop off 15 minutes earlier |
I for one love to drop off my kids at the kiss and ride in the dark when its below freezing! It builds character. Since they only wear shorts and a sweatshirt, its no different than a refreshing cold plunge, while they wait 20 minutes for the security line to start moving. |
They could dress properly. They could take the bus. Imagine that! |
Is there some rule that states they must only wear shorts and a sweatshirt? Natural consequences for dressing so inappropriately for the weather. |
Yes, that explains why the kiss and ride line is so long in the mornings, but it doesn't explain why OP refuses to drop her kid off 10 minutes earlier and instead complains about how he's tardy all the time. |
It’s simple really: OP is entitled. OP thinks as long as the kid is in the building by 7:25, the kid shouldn’t be marked tardy. OP doesn’t understand why the front door is still open until 7:25. OP thinks the front door should be locked at 7:15 so people know they will be tardy then. So in a nutshell, OP is an idiot. |

But then what if every parent tries this...then you're looking at the same ridiculous situation, only 15 minutes earlier. Which is why PP suggested the school bus. |
But, then they would not be late. But, agree about the school bus. Problem solved. |
| This is the same policy at every middle and high school and it’s evenly applied. If the kiss and ride lane is onerous, have your child take the bus. You can drive them to the bus stop if you want to see them off. If your child is within walking distance, have them walk. It builds character having to learn to follow a schedule and be timely. If you want to continue to use kiss and ride, drop off at 7. This isn’t complicated. |
You are obviously not a Carson parent. https://carsonms.fcps.edu/attendance-late-arrivals-and-early-departures "There are no walkers at Rachel Carson Middle School. For safety reasons, all students must take the bus or receive a ride from a parent or guardian." |
You’re right, I’m not. I was pointing out that this was the policy at every middle and high school and that it’s not exclusively punitive to Rachel Carson. Your follow up shows that every student has access to a bus, so there is an easy solution. |
To include leaving 5 minutes earlier. |
Door opens 710 and closes 715? 2000kids are to clear security in 5 min? |
