1.) need to bolster worker protections back up and pay living wages, and
2.) we need to tax big corporations and the billionaires enriched by them a bit more.

Sure you are pissed that Walmart is with 1 trillion.

But think about this.


How many people does Walmart employ? Yeah, they have many low paid store workers. But they also have well paid accountants, managers, lawyers, marketing people. Some surely make 100-200k and support their families. What about all the truck drivers that have dependable jobs and loads from Walmart? How about people in rural areas that depend on Walmart for cheap food and groceries that they could not afford from more expensive stores.


So maybe look at the big picture on how many people Walmart employs and how many families depend on Walmart for their livelihood.

Interesting how you glossed over those "low paid store workers" which would be the bulk of the employees.

DP and I agree with you. Walmart sucks. Their business model is profitable but their practices hurt a lot of regular people.

There is no perfect system and capitalism certainly isn't one. Too many bad actors in the world. That is why we do need some government regulation in a capitalist system. Pure capitalism will always hurt those at the bottom.

I also agree with many PPs that it is frustrating as f*ck that these same people vote for the GOP which will only help the Walmarts of the world and never themselves.

To be fair the democrats were in power for a long time during the same period that Walmart was hollowing out the small towns and creating the monopoly in the first place. Offshoring was never slowed during Clinton and Obama so why would they think that democrats care about their economic well being?
