Do you get your older teen up in the morning?

My youngest is 17 and we’ve always had to wake her up, and make her a big breakfast. We eat and chat together now, so I’m enjoying the last few months of this before she heads off to college.

He sometimes sleepwalks and in general sleeps quite deeply.

Do you wake up your teen before school, or do you 100% expect them to get up on their own? What do you do if they don't?

I value the life skill of being able to wake up per schedules, but I remember that when I was a teen, the tiredness felt on a different level than when I was a young adult.

I don't mind waking him up once and a while, but not when it's happening any days in a row. Just curious how this works in everyone else's home.

sounds like your kid needs a sleep study.
Once any medical issues have been ruled out and/pr resolved you can then address the waking up thing. If you want to wake him up do it. If you don't then get an old school alarm clock and start setting the expectations of getting up and out of the house on time and whatever consequences may arise from lateness.
