How woke is Georgetown really?

Their campus tour was very ‘woke’

A total turn off.

Just go to Liberty... you'll be happier there.

This is how I am hoping Georgetown is. My DD was accepted and is considering it if she doesn't get into her first choice. She is pretty conservative herself religiously...not necessarily politically. She is really not political at all really and does't like to engage in the occasional debates at the family dinner table. Our family leans conservative, but not at all MAGA.

We toured Georgetown and had the same perception. It is off our list.

Ridiculous. “woke” means you have empathy and compassion. The world could use more of that!

I hear all the time that it's one of the wokest of the elite schools, but the students I'm familiar with who've gone there don’t line up with that reputation. When you think Georgetown you think social justice focused, politically far left wing, and super plugged into the DC activist ecosystem. But most people I'm aware of who went or currently go there there are pre-professional and money-focused, pursuing fields like consulting, finance, law, etc. Not that they couldn't also be woke, but I see them more as wannabe MOTU types. So what's the real deal with Georgetown? Does the woke vibe dominate, or does the school's presence in DC just make it easier for a small minority of activist types to appear as a larger force than they really are?

This post could have been 3 sentences...or none at all.

If only.

Georgetown is neither woke nor conservative. It seems pretty centrist. FWIW the university largely avoided the Trump administration's crackdown on universities despite being down the street from the White House.

We did vote for Trump. No regrets there because Harris would have been a disaster. But we don’t consider ourselves maga.

If you thought Trump was an acceptable choice in 2024 then you’re functionally MAGA, even if you don’t like the label.

If your kid has similar leanings she better stick to ND.

LOLOLOLOL. Not only did you vote for him, but you have no regrets. But you’re not MAGA. I guess you prefer the unbranded “racist” or “fascist” labels?

I hope everyone going around worrying about “woke” sees what this is really about.

Good point. With everything that has happened in the last year, PP still thinks Harris would have been a disaster?

PP is Temu MAGA.

You have a funny understanding of the word "disaster."

Since you voted for Trump, can you please explain why you hate America and everything it stands for?
