Innocent Germans in America have been oppressed repeatedly victimized by the United States government, first with discriminatory internment not only during WWII, but also during WWI, without just compensation.

My family will be demanding full and just compensation from Maryland through this new commission.

You don’t count.

Don’t feed the nazi POS.

- it was a promise to future generations that our government would never again prioritize one race over another.

This bill (now a Maryland law) undermines the unifying purpose of the Civil Rights movement.

giving reparations to one particular group is probably going to result in the 14th amendment being brought up in a court of law.

Personally I don’t see any reason for the government to give any reparations to groups I’m a member of, so I have no problem with reparations being paid to descendants of enslaved people and not to me.

You can go home if you don't like it here. You aren't enslaved here.

I’m afraid I don’t follow state politics closely enough. I didn’t even know this was being seriously considered. Does anyone know where I can see a record of the specific votes on this? Although I suspect the representatives for my area supported it, I’d like to know exactly how they voted.

Maryland can’t even clean the trash off the roadways. Coming off the beltway heading north on 95 it’s like a junkyard.

I suspect only white ppl will pay

That would require a Palantir level of data integration to pull off.

I'm an immigrant. You're an embarrassment on every level possible. You should have left all of your racist nonsense wherever the hell you came from.

I think it's mostly just one angry racist.

For supporters of reparations and this as a general strategy, what outcome do you believe it will achieve other than providing cash to certain individuals? Would you expect it to reduce or eliminate claims of systemic racism? Do you believe it will reduce or eliminate racial discrimination complaints? Do you believe it will measurably change the income, status, or well being of those who are paid?

If I'm being honest, I don't think it will do any of those things. I think it will be a one-time boon to those who are paid and a moment for legislators to pat themselves on the backs. If I thought long-term good would come of it, I would be more open to it.
