Maryland requires 1080 hours at ES,MS 1170 hours at HS AND 180 separate calendar days. Keep the former which is ~half and hour for ES/MS, ~a full hour per day longer than other states and drop the latter and you are good. I don't think the transition day is needed but they start so early next year so it is ok.

nope, given how badly MCPS students are doing in the county, they need those days of school.

Makeup days in June are useless.

It’s really hard with kids in college and HS. My college kid needs to do internships that usually run the first part of the summer, but my youngest needs to be back weeks before school starts due to fall sports tryouts bring in early August. So we really can’t take a summer vacation all thirteen. When my oldest got into college, I had looked at the four years of her spring break and was excited that one year would line up with McPS. I’m surprised that after decades of doing spring break the week before Easter, McPS is changing to after Easter for 2027.

They've done spring break the week after Easter before this. It's not frequent, but it does happen.

Alternatively, we need to automatically use the mid-year make up days. The June days are the worst of all possible options.

It was originally the GP day for an August 31 week start. Since they are starting a week early the GP is now November 2 but November 9 is listed as NI.
