My point is her running has nothing to do with the board pushing option H. You are linking unrelated things to stir up drama and create a false narrative. The whole board came up with option H on their own. Not just her. It blindsided everyone who was told the options were going to be holding or hybrid. Not a full on permanent Wootton move. It makes sense economically and solves several issues at once.

It’s unclear whether the majority of the Wootton community actually wants to relocate, even though they all want the building to be renovated. It feels like an impossible choice: either give up the school’s legacy and history, or remain in a broken unsafe facility.

I don't get this. Why do they have to give up their legacy and history? It's moving, not shutting down. It will be Wootton in a new location.

It’s located in crown. It would take years to build a new building and parents are saying it’s a very bad situation so this seems like a good solution.

The new school has not been through the naming process. Crown is just the name that’s being used while it’s under construction because it’s located in the Crown community…

+1. Similar to when Blair moved to the new building in Four Corners. It's still Blair.

The old Blair building wasn't across the street, it was 1.5 miles away. It was fine, and will be at Wootton too.

It does not and current Wootton parents are deathly against it. Wootton is screwed with every option. Wootton always had a target in its back because of the high Asian population. The county wants to spread out some of that brainpower.

How do you propose they fix Wooton's facility without a holding school or just moving them to crown? There is no money due to mismanagement. And, if they rebuild while the kids are there, the noise, dust, trucks, etc. would be miserable and they'd lose use of the fields, which means sports would have to be at other schools with parents driving.

I am and you are actually wrong. It’s not ideal but I think Wootton parents recognize this as the only option to get their kids out of a horrible building in the next decade. Almost every single Wootton parent I have talked to understands and supports this option.

I know Fallsmead, cold spring and Lakewood don’t love it. They are scared they’d one day be rezoned out of Wootton and also don’t want a longer commute. Have you been in Wootton lately? If it wasn’t a school it would be condemned. I am not exaggerating. These neighborhoods would prefer a renovated Wootton, yes. But the ones I talk to understand it’s more important for their kids to be safe in the end.

Here’s the thing. This isn’t a vote. People can agree or disagree and it doesn’t matter. The board is going to decide.

BOE decides if they like Option H or whatever else Supt. Taylor will recommend.
Part of the reco will include 6-region model as a concept.

But BOE doesn't decide what 6-region model looks like. MCPS will decide that, whenever they are satisfied with their latest iterative version. Which means never.

Remember, MCPS is only *planning* the 6-region model, not actually figuring out the details, esp since MCPS still tinkering with the programs and locations! Implementation begins after the BOE vote and will only be done one year at a time. All this will be out of BOE's hands.

The regional model is a separate thing that needs to pass. For some reason the board is inextricably linking it to the new boundaries. But it’s a different recommendation and a different vote I believe.
