The problem is Magruder didn't circulate petitions and force CO to do something about an unsafe school like Wootton said. All that was done by entitled Wootton parents when they knew they were 3rd in line for renovations. They probably thought they would get 1st dibs on being at Crown while Wootton got renovated and this backfired when MCPS brought in Option H. |
There were no petitions to renovate Wootton. What are you talking about? |
That person is a troll |
You can thank the PTA President of Wootton. See link. https://www.change.org/p/justice-for-wootton/u/34008106 |
Here is a petition for Magruder, Wootton and Damascus https://www.change.org/p/prioritize-school-renovations-use-crown-high-school-as-a-holding-school Here is a petition for a bunch of other schools https://www.change.org/p/make-mcps-facilities-a-priority All these petitions are from this fall. I doubt that the one Wootton petition swayed the BOE one way or another. |
| I don't really understand why wootton families complain that much when they have had so many active petitions out there to ask for supports to have a safe building for their kids to learn. MCPS heard it, and option H is an option to sove the problem. Now it seems like many wootton families are mad. Wootton old building is number 3 on the renovation list. If they don't take any offers now, there is a big chance there won't be big renovation till at least a decade after. School boundary is not linked to any houses people reside at all, and people should be smart enough to learn that is real fact. That us why some families purchase the house because they like the neighborhood, but they send their kids to private school. |
Nice try. 78 percent of the 1500+ signatures for Crown as a holding school are from 20854, 20850 and 20878. Are those Magruder parents or Wootton parents? SMH. All these petitions are started by the Asians in the North Potomac and Rockville area. And MCPS listened to you all. |
20854 is Churchill. They benefit a lot if crown is a holding school and they don’t need to be zoned out. |
Wootton has gone all over facebook and other social media with their petitions. Even if they replaced it, it would take years. Crown is an immediate solution. |
They were lucky that they were #3, other schools are in equally bad condition and not even on the list. |
The petitions were circulated by Wootton parents - I'm on Nextdoor and I cannot keep track of the number of petitions that Wootton parents have posted. And then all these signs in the neighborhoods. Even amongst the Wootton parents there is a divide depending on which ES school zone you belong to. In options A-D, Dufief goes to Crown. I am pretty sure those parents signed the petition for Crown as a holding school since they are bused anyways to Wootton, and would rather be with Wootton than Crown/Gaithersburg. So it is not just the Churchill families that you speak of. I'm not familiar with which Churchill schools are affected by Options A-D |
Parts of 20850 feed into Magruder. Did you go through 3 petitions and somehow figured out where the parents were and that they were asian? Bizarre |
I live in 20854 and in Wootton. |
DP. No, the easternmost parts of 20850 are in the Rockville cluster. |
You're bizarre. Learn to read. I did not say all the parents were Asian. I said these petitions were started by Asians. Which part of 20850 feeds to Magruder? Every ES and MS in that cluster does not have a 20850 zip code. And there is no split articulation feeders to Magruder or Shady Grove Middle school or Redland MS Maryvale ES - Rockville HS - 20850 Fallsmead ES - Wootton - 20850 Lakewood ES - Wootton - 20850 Robert Frost MS - 20850 Robert Frost MS (6–8): DuFief ES (K–5) - 20878 *Fallsmead ES (K–5) - 20850 *Lakewood ES (K–5) - 20850 Travilah ES (K–5) - 20878 Look at the bottom of every petition and it will tell you where majority of the signatures came from. Nice try again PP. |
