BOE member pushes Option H for personal gain?

Anonymous
The BOE is pushing the new options, especially H, for the Crown boundary study. One of the BOE members behind this is actually running for county council in district 1. Option H serves her well, as she can “protect” district 1 neighborhoods from any school boundary change.

So, Gaithersburg residents lost a new school, and she can win votes in her county council campaign? This is f-ed up!

I don't see any gains for option H for region 5.

Is this a surprise to you?

Politicians. What do you expect?

Option H saves the county $100s of millions of dollars. It gets more students into safe schools faster. You must be from the neighborhood that is creating all of these false accusations who is mad you may not get what you feel you “deserve”.

What? You're gonna have the connect dots a lot more for me to understand why Julie Yang would be invested in Crown not being a high school.

Are you talking about Wootton? Majority of them do not want to move to Crown at all and they are complaining about option H.

This person is mad because they are talking about moving Wootton to the crown building (current Wootton students plus some of the crown area students) and turning Wootton into the holding school. The numbers don’t work to fill crown with Crown area kids AND renovate all the other schools that need it. Enrollment is down, QO and Gaithersburg not longer will overcrowded and they can’t fill Crown how they originally planned to. So they are possibly changing the plan. Rather than doing some research this person would prefer to create false narratives.

I am and you are actually wrong. It’s not ideal but I think Wootton parents recognize this as the only option to get their kids out of a horrible building in the next decade. Almost every single Wootton parent I have talked to understands and supports this option.

Wootton is not the neighborhood creating the false accusations.

I hear the opposite. None of the ones I know want to move to a much further school in a more crowded area. It would be nice to renovate Wootton, but be objective, Wootton is not much worse than the other schools, mold and all kinds of leaking problems happen everywhere.

I know Fallsmead, cold spring and Lakewood don’t love it. They are scared they’d one day be rezoned out of Wootton and also don’t want a longer commute. Have you been in Wootton lately? If it wasn’t a school it would be condemned. I am not exaggerating. These neighborhoods would prefer a renovated Wootton, yes. But the ones I talk to understand it’s more important for their kids to be safe in the end.

Please enlighten us which part was false? Is it the part that this BOE member is running for district 1 county council? Or the part she is pushing for option H? Or the part her district 1 schools would be unaffected under H?

Please stop spread misinformation about unfounded numbers, such as “$100s of millions of dollars”. Please fact-check. Or, perhaps you know something we don’t, because saving “$100s of millions of dollars” would mean to completely cancel any renovation to the current Wootton HS.

I suppose “ You must be from the neighborhood that is creating all of these false accusations who is mad you may not get what you feel you “deserve”.” should be applied to you.

Oh, wait! You might be the ones who might vote for her because she is giving you what you feel you “deserve.”, at the cost of others. Lucky for you! Hope she won’t sell you out next time when she needs others’ vote.

Wootton is big, and I can imagine there are different views.

Doesn’t change the fact that my kids wouldn’t have a new school, and she would gain from it.

Are the BOE members supposed to represent the entire county, or just for a district or region within the county?
