Arlington and Fairfax can't afford to be bedroom communities anymore. Just like MoCo, approximately 20% of their residents are employed by the Federal government. The gravy train is over for them also. They need to catch up. |

When you get off the beltway on Georgetown pike and drive down balls hill road or Churchill road there’s lots of new construction houses just like the rest of McLean - it’s looks like thriving - then you get to McLean and there’s grocery stores restaurants etc. its not over crowded? if you get off the beltway and drive up seven locks road for example there’s not that thriving feel and no where really equivalent in MD. The Giant and Safeway shipping center are old and overcrowded -
Also McLean they maintain the roads and the utilities underground! There aren’t utility lines everywhere etc. I don’t understand why the infrastructure is so bad and outdated in Potomac? |
Being a weird upwardly mobile striver is low-class behavior. People can smell your desperation. |
McLean is “thriving” with grocery stores and restaurants? This is a joke right? McLean doesn’t even have a real downtown. The grocery store is a really sad Safeway. As for utility lines, drive over to Arlington. They’re everywhere. It’s like they are 30 years behind the curve. Basically nothing underground. I have lots of friends there and they’re constantly complaining about power outages and many finally splurged for generators. In Moco, I’ve had one outage in the past decade and it was about four hours. |
| How did this become yet another MD vs. VA thread? This thread had nothing to do with VA. At all. |
Do you live in Potomac? |
I can’t stop laughing while reading her posts. She’s hysterical. |
|
They are all strip malls. The Falls Road/River Road one is just weird and that Safeway is nasty. Cabin John is also meh - the Giant is okay, but anyplace with a McDonald's can't be that upscale. Park Potomac at least has the best grocery store, but feels like an office park. And Quincy's is a sports bar, which isn't upscale by any definition.
Who the f-cares. It's just average people with above average incomes. |
| This entire thread is baffling. Why is someone who lives in NoVa so incensed by a shopping center in the MD suburbs? |
So funny! |
OP is not trying to shop. He heard growing up Potomac was very rich. Now he’s grown up he drove to Park Potomac to see rich people and fancy boutiques he was underwhelmed because the people and the shops seem regular. |
They were watching MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!111 Oh the humanity |

Please see link how Montgomery county has fallen behind northern Va |
No I do not |
Why do you keep bringing this up here? There’s a separate thread about NoVa. So bizarre. |
