Do you still have checks?

Yes, I have checks and still use them. It's very rare that I pay a bill online, so I write the occasional check, and mail it.

Yes we have a checking account with checks.

Such a great idea with the spike in mail theft for check washing. Do you send cash in the mail too? At least if you sent cash in the mail, you couldn't get ripped off for more than what you sent.

PP here.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I've never had a problem with any check that I have mailed. And no, I do not send cash in the mail.

Of course. All the in people have and use checks.

Checks work when banks are closed and have no limits.

I have checks and use them maybe a couple times a year.

I’ve started using them at restaurants that charge a credit card use fee.

I definitely don't have any checks. A few years ago, when I needed a check, I got a few from Navy Federal. Apparently, they provide 5-10 checks for free annually.

I don't ever plan to order checks again.

It’s still more secure to use online bill pay. It only takes one check to be washed and the pain of getting back possibly thousands of lost dollars from the bank for you to learn the hard way.

I have the same pack I got about 10 years ago. I write 4 or 5 a year. For school things or home repair mainly.

My dad recently had checks stolen from the mail and was scammed somehow the same check got cashed multiple times and its been a mess to fix. That was the first check scam I've heard of, I thought they were safe to mail but will be more careful with that now.

I just had to order new ones. Ran out and my kid’s new hs keeps asking for checks for random stuff- band uniform, deposit for band trip, etc. I’m irrationally annoyed.

I still write about 8 a year. Some services only take checks or charge a service fee for automatic w/draw or credit card. Taxes are also by check.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, but I don’t use them anymore. A check I wrote out to pay for plumbing services was counterfeited about 8 months later, and scammers tried to withdrew thousands of dollars from my account. I was lucky the bank reimbursed me, but there were several attempts involving the altered check. I no longer pay with checks.

You need to use this pen:

https://www.amazon.com/Retractable-Medium-Uni-Ball-Nursing-Business/dp/B000FDR47E/

Other inks are easily "washed" enabling the check to be re-used.

Combine that with a check w/ built-in security features effectively eliminates this type of fraud; see:

https://www.ordermychecks.com/caccp/productview.jsp?productId=prod2790149&src=prodlist

even if your check falls into the hands of the "bad guys" they won't even bother and quickly move on to an easier target -- ie, "you don't need to out run the bear, you just need to be faster than the person you're with"
