This is the world we live in now where the President can call anyone who disagrees with him scum, but comedians cannot comment on current events that don't align with the Presidents platform.

So he lied.

Yep. He presented his opinion as fact. As a media leader, he should know better but, honestly, these guys have been getting away with it forever so it makes sense he thought he could do so now. The problem is, although he's allowed to say what he wants, the network has to read the room as far as national sentiment is concerned. They can fire him for misrepresenting the truth.

Comics tell jokes. In order to do that, they need to exaggerate and twist reality.

And no, Kimmel did not lie. He made an assumption that turned out to be only half-true. That is not a fireable offense.

I wouldn't even say he made an assumption. He stated a fact. They ARE trying to frame the shooter as anything other than conservative, starting with ridiculous trans symbol on the bullet theory. Whether the shooter is MAGA/liberal/libertarian is immaterial. He was critiquing the adminisration's lack of objectivity. That level of nuance seems to go over the vast majority of people's heads.

The amount of MAGA on this thread is surprising. It's pathetic to be so afraid of what Kimmel said to use threats from the FCC chair to pressure ABC to fire him. Not to mention ignore the fact that most members of the current administration lie all day long.

lol no. I’m a republican that never heard of Charlie Kirk until he was killed. I think it’s because I’m a moderate and I try to ignore the extremes.

I can’t wait until all these quislings are hanging their heads in shame.

I don't even like or watch Kimmel but it's extremely dangerous that a comedian can be fired by a network because the President's party didn't like one of his jokes. An no, he didn't lie -- he exaggerated and made an assumption, and nothing he said was presented as news or fact. His entire job is to comment on the news and try to make it funny.

Also could I just point out that if Trump is going to get every entertainer who doesn't support him fired, we're in for a real low point in American entertainment. Conservatives are not funny, they don't even know what jokes are.

Yes, I'll make sure to show my grandkids the absurd MAGA angel videos with Kirk running up to Jesus. Can't wait.

You are too stupid to have this conversation with. ABC didn’t decide Kimmel wasn’t good. They were coerced by the FTC chair.

No lies...

Pure lies followed by more leftist lies. Not surprised.

What's a leftist lie? What's an impure lie?

I do think people will know who Charlie Kirk is in several generations but not because he was a wonderful person. He will be remembered for his assassination and for embodying the divisiveness of this political moment. He'll be remembered the way David Duke will be remembered.

Agree. I think trying to impute any type of rational motive to this or any other assassination is a fool's errand. Most people who do these types of things aren't rational.

To be fair, to be fair he will be remembered as someone MAGA used to get rid of free speech. They don’t care about him. They are using him to achieve what they want to achieve.

They will know his name in regard to this idiot version of a reichstag fire.
