Hope your kid enjoys the school spirit this year. The success on the field won't be the same senior year; just plain odds.

weird comment - success and runs like this become the seeds for a dynasty at top academic schools. Ever hear of Coach K?

My point is that, most often, success does not become the seeds for a dynasty. Sometimes, yes, but most of the time, no. Too many variables.

It's fun, to be sure. Enjoy it while it lasts.

+1 No more dynasties in the age of the transfer portal and NIL.

That's great. I love when nerd schools do well in football.

+1 I’m missing the time when Northwestern did really well in a few years ago.

just spoke with DD - she’s a junior at Vandy - says school spirit is at an all time high. It’s a wonderful place to spend 4 years. She turned down 2 ivies and really struggled with the decision, but she’s so happy she went to Vandy!

"Has it all!"

Most do live off campus. https://vanderbilthustler.com/2025/09/10/vanderbilt-transfer-students-required-to-live-off-campus-or-on-campus-with-random-roommate/

For comparison sake, freshmen class size is 2300, so that is a massive number of transfers. Definitely a back end route in.

There was also an article a year or so ago on the success of the transfer program and how the transfer students really enriched campus life.

Sad that a school is so fickle that you need a good football season to have school spirit. School spirit at my kid's T20 strong football school is always strong regardless of their performance.

Vanderbilt is in the SEC. SEC spirit is different and you couldn’t understand.

How do they have so much room for so many transfers? Do they really lose that many students per year?

They don’t lose students. They plan for transfers.

They lose about 4% or 250 students every year.

Or put differently, they have room for more kids but wait to take the lower stat ones as sophomores. Don’t have to report to US News that way.

You do realize when you start posts like this it just makes us think less of Vandy.

You don’t see any Stanford or Duke boosters on here desperate for DCUM’s affection.
