Vandy now a monster football program - this school has it all..

Really? So you’re saying it’s not a particularly nice place unless you fit the mold?

Agree Vandy is extremely popular!

Selectivity has overcome the quality of the education. Kids at our private with the stats would rather go to an Ivy or Duke

Hope your kid enjoys the school spirit this year. The success on the field won't be the same senior year; just plain odds.

This. Cue Notre Dame (and their last two games vs. last last season)

weird comment - success and runs like this become the seeds for a dynasty at top academic schools. Ever hear of Coach K?

Ever hear of NIL? Times have changed.

My point is that, most often, success does not become the seeds for a dynasty. Sometimes, yes, but most of the time, no. Too many variables.

It's fun, to be sure. Enjoy it while it lasts.

bet you’re loads of fun at parties

Insult me all you like. This forum isn't a party.

The above was my practical advice to one of my kids, whose college football team played in the national championship game: "enjoy the moments." And he did enjoy the moments, including more than one field-rushing win at home over that season. The next year was a return to a typical win-some, lose-some sports season, which was still fun, but not at that same level. It's about expectations - I didn't want him to expect the success would continue, with disappointment when it didn't.

+1 but let them have fun. They’ve caught lightning in a bottle but will go back to being irrelevant in football soon enough.

this is what we are seeing now, too.
non-East Coast selective private. 10% of class ED to Vanderbilt. That's not going to end well.

That’s my kid’s reaction. No interest in going to a red state where the girls dress up for football games.
