humungous upset of 11th ranked teams in on the road in a blowout - Pavia will be getting serious Heisman consideration of this keeps up. How do I keep my kid interested in his U Chicago or Georgetown apps when Vandy checks every box for the perfect college experience! ugh

the studious kids who prefer a more pure academic experience and are awkward in social settings would not feel at home at Vandy - there are better options for those kids

meaning - it’s not for everyone

How nice for Vandy. Vandy doesn't need OP's spam, though.

The football gods giveth and they taketh away. It is not uncommon for a team to be great one year and not the next.

Hope your kid enjoys the school spirit this year. The success on the field won't be the same senior year; just plain odds.

It's insane. I'm jealous for my freshman kid (who did turn down Vandy for a higher-ranked school but not for the ranking) ... I think Vandy may have been a better social fit.

oh well.

A lot of kids purposefully avoid institutions with a lot of "school spirit" and associated sports. Ours included.

weird comment - success and runs like this become the seeds for a dynasty at top academic schools. Ever hear of Coach K?

My point is that, most often, success does not become the seeds for a dynasty. Sometimes, yes, but most of the time, no. Too many variables.

It's fun, to be sure. Enjoy it while it lasts.
