Posts like these sound like, “my perfect kid is being turned into a jerk by his peers.”

To the rest of the world, these kids just look like jerks.

Also they do plenty of influencing themselves.

But, I live in a wealthy southern suburb that is virtually all white and my own kid who is considered an extremely well mannered middle school girl calls me bruh sometimes (and I don’t care and remember calling my mom “dude” in the 80s). You have a weird stereotype, because the kids I’ve known for years run the gamut of totally wonderful, polite kids to a couple of them with significant behavioral issues. But literally 100% of them are using current slang.

This has been my experience in Catholic school. It's a lot easier to instill manners in the classroom when you're allowed to tell kids god is watching and there's a picture of the pope staring them down.

Public schools can put googley eyes on the wall. Works just as well.

Yikes. People, you have to take these tablets away from your young kids. They need the space to be bored and learn how to handle their emotions. Give them a book and let them learn a bit of empathy.

Our Catholic school kids are pretty great. We have a second grader and it's only one class and every one of those kids is a good kid. Some strong personalities but they are all kind. It's a k-8 and the middle school kids seem kind as well. They often say hi when I walk around in the school (I don't know them), or they say hi to my young kids. I think the stronger the community, the "better" kids you will see.
