Me too. The affected parents speaking out, and perhaps suing MCPS, is the only way this will be addressed properly. |
Reasonably, they have staff monitoring the hallways and bathrooms and break this up. There is no reason why kids should be assaulted. Put camera's everywhere public for easier monitoring. |
I don't care what race either child is. Thie assailant should not be allowed back in public. |
This is a wealthier school. Often wealthy parents are no better and not supervise their kids as their lives come first. Lets be real. |
They need to bring back Noyes and lock these kids up... |
As a parent there is no way I'd send my kid back to a school where they were violently assaulted and if I had a 6th grader there I'd be very concerned of them going there at all. |
The prior posts are addressing an incident from the 80s 🤦♀️ |
It is very concerning but there are school shootings literally all the time (both public and private) and we continue to send our kids to schools. |
Eh. Really wealthy in this area go to private. |
Why is the same Dr Jones writing the letter then? |
The incident started on the bus in the morning. The assault itself occurred right after they got off the bus.
Both kids were picked up by parents. Not sure about “ teeth being kicked out” but I assume if a kid had a mouthful of bloody teeth they would have gone straight to hospital. |
It's an unfortunate situation. This comes down to parenting. Be accountable and own your responsibility of raising your child. Dr. Jones is fair and has indeed been there for years. In cases like these where you are a parent, it would be a fair ask to inform us about the type of punishment issued to make us feel more at ease and confident in the system. Not knowing leaves everyone curious, scared, infuriated, etc. |
They legally cannot say what the consequences were to others but most likely there will be none. |
I have been told by my 6th grade DD that an ambulance and cop cars were there last Friday. Also, my DD said , she saw staff clean the blood stains. The 8th grader also used her water bottle in the attack. I know the principal is wonderful. That being said an email should have gone out on Friday night itself. Also, more details of the incident should have been stated in the email. I know the whole school is shaken up by this incident. espeically, the innocent 6 th graders. The victim will probably not be at school for a long time. Frankly speaking, there is so much trauma that I would not return to the school. We have gotten forwards about contributing to gift baskets/cards for the child. |
Agree. 6th grade class was largetly impacted as they see this kind of terrible things just after they started the new school. I hope the school can share more information. |
