Yep - blamed it on US Soccer |
Looks like Boys only. Hopefully they weren’t telling that to the Girls. |
Girls who expected to be there knew before the message boards, and they knew before the club. |
So, first things first. I don't have girls that are on these teams in questions, but have a player who has participated in this maddening process. I understand it's frustrating if players from local clubs haven't been invited to the ID session, especially when it's being held in essentially their backyard. And, it well indeed may be a club failure with their relationship with USYNT, et al. All I have to say is to keep working hard and continue to express desire to make this a goal to the coach/DOC, tech director, etc. And not in the whole crazy, I got money in an envelop for you that has been expressed here. All I can say is that in some ways, the cream will rise to the top and it will work out. This is my experience and mine alone, so you can call me crazy or naive or whatever, but my DD never got invited to any of these early age group ID clinics, but always expressed it directly - not the parents, completely her doing - as a goal to go to these sessions. She first was invited at U15 to a session in PA in the winter. And then it was silence for a bit. Then she got invited to another ID in the Spring. And then silence again, although she did indirectly hear positive feedback through her coach who attended the session. Nothing happening at U16 until they opened up the pool by having more ID sessions. Went to an ID. Silence again and then got invited to a 24 player camp this past Spring. Now, once that happens, you seem to be in the pool and on the radar. More transparency, but not that much more. Has since received another invite to a 24 player camp this season. I guess what I am trying to say is give the process a chance although the process really sucks. The lack of transparency in tough. Getting that initial invite does rely on your relationship with the club and coaches, but once you are there, it's up to you. The poster that shared the US ID PDF - it was valuable to see. Especially the last page about the player qualities that they are looking for - that seems to ring true. Good Luck and roast away if you want! |

While I appreciate the perspective, the club has admitted that they failed to nominate anyone for this one, which is the only one scheduled in this area. Given the strength of the teams and the rest of the distribution, there is zero reason to think that had they just done the paperwork, there would be FVU girls at this center. |
So, as the PP of the novel above, if the club isn't doing their job, then shame on them. I can really appreciate everyone's frustrations if they are not making an effort to properly promote their players! Good Luck with that. |
Thanks - and congrats to your DD! No matter what club, it’s good for the DMV when players make it to the pool. |
they had one job. And had some really strong talent to send. Given the strength of the teams FVU would have had a chance to advertise themselves if the girls were successful. They had one job |
Is this really that big of a deal? Maybe no one was that good |
Fwiw, no 2011 and 2012 richmond players invited. |
Instagram showed 3 Alexandria soccer players invited.
Is the list out anywhere publicly yet? |
they are at the nc ones |
Come back when someone makes it to the national team. All the players at top teams have pretty much similar skills. There is no wow player after all. It just boils down to clubs favoring one player over the other for reasons you may or may not know about. But since favoritism does not last, this call up nonsense is not that important. Congrats Have fun attending extra training sessions in Leesburg. Yawn ![]() |
You know, there are a lot of national team players from Northern Virginia and Maryland, right? At least one of these players will end up there. |
