…why would you not just ask your doctor? |
You could ask her attending questions, instead of just going straight to ChatGPT. I’m amazed at the number of you using this in place of actual medical advice. Bizarre. You are no better than the “I do my own research” MAHA crew (who are likely also using ChatGPT) |
Sorry, what makes you think we haven't asked questions instead of "just going straight to ChatGPT" ? Quite a bunch of assumptions you're making in your post. I am so far from MAHA your comment is actually funny, but keep on keepin' on with your projections, I guess? |
| The critical comments like 09:49 are why I hope AI replaces message board like this cesspool. DCUM was so much more normal years ago. I guess its popularity brought in more trolls. Or DC itself now has even more horrible people if that’s possible. |
Not PP, but I’m gonna guess because it’s a three month wait and will cost $800 for a simple question. |
Maybe it’s time DCUM switch to Usernames so there’s more accountability like Reddit. I’ve always been against that, but honestly I do think it will help keep the integrity of the platform. |
That was me and how is it trolling to say a doctor should be asked over ChatGPT |
She can't message over the portal or call? At my doctor's office, if you're a patient and have follow-up questions about labs they'll call you back within 48 hours. And no, I'm not a troll. I just think it's bizarre to be so reliant on ChatGPT for things like medical issues. I stand by what I said, that it smacks of "I did my own research." |
| On the plus, maybe AI could be used as a therapist by the person who trained ChatGPT to be her own personal sex slave. |
PP here. Cause I was freaking out and wanted to know immediately what I could do. I also didn't understand a lot of the bloodwork. I figured I would google the stats, so why not just ask ChatGPT? I have a telehealth appointment later this week but didn't want to wait for answers. |
Have you really never encountered a medical issue that (a) is complex enough to be beyond the expertise of a generalist like a pcp or hospitalist (and they will tell you such), and (b) involves multiple systems, for which each specialist is confident in their own expertise, but not in how it affects the other systems (and they will tell you such)? Good for you. It's possible a day will come when your providers are stymied, and you are trying to figure out what's actually going on big-picture, and then perhaps you will understand this conversation. Wish you well. |
That actually makes sense; and I apologize if my tone was rude. I was so blindsided by the person in a BDSM relationship with ChatGPT that I didn't even think that you just meant this as a temporary placeholder until you could talk to a physician. |
I work in a hospital so, yes, I have encountered such medical issues (not personally) and I do not recommend using AI to unravel them. Wish you and your dd well, too. |
FWIW, chatgpt homed in on some possibilities that were supported by peer-reviewed medical literature, that led to new conversations with providers, which led to new a couple of not-previously-considered tests, whose results pointed us toward a specialist whose expertise is an extremely narrow area of focus. Appointment in Boston next week. (Fingers crossed. After six years, it would be nice to get this kid some answers). In this case, Chatgpt was complementary to what the physicians were offering, not an alternative. |
| I really like chat gpt. |
