For official counting purposes, the total pages from the old thread (which stopped at 1181, i believe) will be added to this thread.

We should get to 2000 in no time just by discussing the fact the first thread was locked.

Why did mod lock it?

Not enough server space. He encouraged everyone to start a part two.

Even your comments about things not youth soccer related dont make sense.

If DCUM was running out of space wouldn't it make more sense to delete the thread? It was locked because every time people accessed the thread it brought up all 1000+ pages. Also its likely that people were searching through the 1000+ pages. Which was causing Compute and Ram issues.

He was/is joking man... The old thread did get kinda ugly and dry at the very end. There seemed to be a few diehard MLSN guys facing off with a diehard ECNL guy. That's boring and not the true spirit of this thread.

Thats how these kind of threads always end up. Then you get the pot stirring trolls who say outrageous things just to piss people off

Don't forget about the people that post "inside information" that they just made up usually to try and win an argument.

The problem is people have also posted things that end up being true. Which makes it tough to know what is real info.
Or at least someone believes it to be true when they post.

But if there is a pattern in this epic thread from day 1: every SY speculation was initially met with sneer and ridicule, but then eventually they all came true.

Now down to the last two...

Ive seen most guesses be wrong.
- We're going SY in Aug (this was July 2024)
- We're going SY in Sept (this was in Aug)
- We're going GY for u16-u18 at showcases
- We're going SY in Oct (this was in Sept)
- We're going SY in Nov (this was in Oct)
- In Nov it leaks that US Soccer is allowing leagues to choose their own cutoff dates for 26/27 season
- In December there's rumors that US Club will allow X number of trapped players to play down in spring (didnt happen)
- In Jan there was a rumor SY would be moved up for 25/26 season (didnt happen)
- in Jan there was also a rumor that GY would happen for all youth soccer.
- In Feb US Club / USYS changed the SY cutoff date from 9/1 to 8/1 (nobody guessed that this would happen)

After this it was a mix of the same. But ECNL parents noticed that MLSN and GA haven't commented on SY. So they started making up things like personall calls with Trish the Commish about SY.

Bla bla bla. As you can see its all just guesses.

Well they did announce 9/1 then decided to switch to 8/1.

Also USYS league cal south is offering 8/1 and 1/1 leagues this fall and will only offer 8/1 in spring 26.

There’s lots of time to see what happens over the course of the year if other league make changes.

I don’t think US club will offer changes this year and will likely keep BY for all of 25/26 but I wouldn’t be surprised if encl made a slight change for their teams in spring 26.

You responded fast… twice, maybe it is higher than 80%. I will get a precise number for you later.

I responded once. My point is information can be true for some and not for others. So if someone posts I hear they are going to start early 25/26 that is obviously true for cal south league families as of now not true for US Club families.

Cal South is mostly a rec league at this point Coast has a couple of teams but that's it. They can do anything they want because nobody cares.

Ugh… just Ugh

Figure out how to ban people yet Mr Mod?

Uggggggggh

I bet people that are forced to listen to you make that sound a lot. Mostly from the frustration.

Mr. Ugh needs some better comebacks…

If you want a comeback do what most people do and ask your mom.

Ugh… they’re getting worse

So IF GA is going to switch, announcement before the fall season or before spring?

I think there's a few people who don't like this topic and hope a 2nd thread fails and are trying to poison the well.

I keep hearing GA chatter that it's going to switch, so I think sooner rather than later and the start of the season does make sense.

Ironically this is what most people say after being with your mom.

September seems like a good time to publicly announce if they are changing.
Will GA bring back its late developer clause basically biobanding for 25/26?
Let GA teams get a head start or keep BY but help clubs keep their Aug to Dec players.

GA never had a "late developer clause". Before last season GA had roughly the same rule as ECNL for trapped players. Allowing then to play down a level when they were in 8th grade and the rest of the team was playing High School soccer. GA removed the rule because everyone ignored it.

Please dont spread wildly untrue nonsense.

You’re incorrect last year was the first time it was taken out of the rules.
They used to allow smaller born players to compete an age group down.
Only for U13-15.

They 100% had a late developer rule from 2020-2024

In the Girls Academy (GA) 2023-2024 season, the "late developer" rule allows for flexibility in roster placement for players who mature physically later than their peers, primarily in the U13 and U14 age groups. This rule is part of the GA's focus on individual player development and creating a streamlined pathway for players to move between rosters within a club.

You can even google it

Girls academy is not bringing back late developer and will not change their trapped player policy for 25/26 I’ve already seen their rule book for next year.ECNL from what I heard is not changing anything either.

People need to stop hoping for early change it’s not happening and the age groups will change in 26/27.

So GA is changing next year?

You are correct...

"Late Developer: Club requests parameters and metric datainformation from the league to submit. Approval/Denial will comefrom the league ofice. Requests restricted to U13 & U14 AgeGroups."

Ive just never seen this used before. Most clubs would just find a different player and put the smaller player in a lesser league until they got better.

Does any of this even matter with December tryouts starting in California so soon?

4 months.....

In Socal youngers try out in December. This because SOCAL league is year round starting in early Feb.

For olders GA / ECNL is also year round but the season ends in July and starts late Aug. This means olders tryouts is in march/april/may. But even then it doesn't matter because players will just reach out to coaches of the teams they want to play on for a tryout whenever during the season

Either way less than a year until major change is upon us.
