Maybe fast swimmers want to have fun and be pushed by other fast swimmers…

Maybe the fastest 10 year-old in the league is on the old team, not the new team. So you couldn’t be more wrong.

Also, maybe 9 year-olds have no say in what pool they join. It’s 100% on the parents- but more specifically, it’s on the pool boards that don’t follow their own protocol.

Is this a joke?! Fastest 10 year old in the league? 🤣. This is summer swim people. Get it together!

+1

Who on Earth would write something like this? The fastest 10 year old?! The kids are diving off a pool ledge into 3.5 ft deep water. These dual meet times on the NVSL website are not the equivalent of Olympic Trials.

I honestly feel sorry for this poster. There seems to be a disconnect from reality and what’s important.

Not all NVS pool facilities are equal; some athletes have an advantage based on their pool and facility. This doesn't diminish the achievements of those with exceptional times.

Looking back now with a teenage swimmer I realize just how awful and insane the 10 and under parents are, both club and summer. Seriously 10 and under parents, get it together.

Again, exceptional times? In a rec league summer swimming program? I have always thought about summer swimming as a team environment. Where you are trying to win together. The coach may swim you in off events week to week to help the team as a whole to win the meet. Personal achievements and focus are for winter club swimming.

Summer swimming is about body paint, costumes, and overall fun! Teams win and lose together and hopefully have a lot of fun doing it.

The phrase “exceptional times” doesn’t belong in a summer swimming program conversation. Let the kids enjoy their summers!!

Yes and no. If it were only team-centered, there would be no pool and NVSL records, no individual divisional meets, and no IAS.

I'm completely lost on this thread. OP says Tuckahoe won three championships in a row losing only 1 meet in the last five years. Someone made an unfounded accusation Tuckahoe recruits. People jumped on that to refute the allegation but most of the underlying posts were deleted because they were targeted at one girl. That left some odd threads about the fastest 10 year old in the league. Now the threads are about why a swimmer might want to leave a pool to go to better facilities? Is that what the last two pages are about?

Is this more sock-puppeting or can someone explain it to me using small words.

Yeah I think things just went off the rails and then the posts were reigned it.

It was supposed to be a congratulatory thread about Tuckahoe 3-peating and then someone made accusations about why they are so good by calling out recruiting which lead to naming names. Then it spiraled more when people tried to brag about exceptional times for people not at Tuckahoe and the difference in pool lip heights. To summarize…wtf?!

Let’s get back on track and cheers the Tuckahoe team for a job well done in an extremely competitive division this year! This was definitely a year where anything could have happened at a lot of those A Meets and it’s pretty amazing that Tuckahoe won again especially with many superstar point earnings graduating last year.
