Given WW3, should we cancel Europe travel plans

There is no reason whatsoever to expect European involvement in any conflict involving Iran. Iran has no reason to attack any European countries, and lacks the capacity to actually do so beyond random terror which has always been a risk with them.

But, if you'd feel more comfortable, by all means stay home and conduct civil defense drills to make sure your fallout shelter is ready.

The OP isn’t being ridiculous to be concerned.

The reality is terror threat levels will be raised across Europe. It will be acts of terrorism, not WWIII.

Having said that, drones are freely available, so I might avoid stadiums and some tourist areas. I’d also avoid public transit.

What kinds of tourist areas would you avoid? To add to this, we are American and Jewish (with a noticeable Jewish last name). Headed to France (including smaller/remote parts).

Thank you all.

here's the thing, as of 1 hour ago, all US Navy ships that were in the port of Bahrain were deployed from the port into the Persian Gulf. Highly unusual and a large, calibrated movement. Everything is being put into motion to get our assets further away from Iran. Possibly a defensive move and not offensive.

The US is moving towards war. Any American traveling in Europe or the ME should be alert.

Bingo.
Per CNN, "President Trump is warming to the idea of using US military assets to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, according to 2 admin officials"

My in-laws are Jewish with a Jewish last name. They are world travelers. They don’t wear Jewish jewelry when traveling and they sometimes book reservations under a first and middle name if they aren’t using tour guides that have been recommended.

The bigger risk is that Europeans don’t want tourists taking over their towns. Airbnb‘s are displacing housing for local people. There were giant protests over the weekend.

Protesting is stupid. They need to lobby their government to change their laws.

No one cares about the AirBNB issue!

Things are escalating. I doubt Europe would retaliate against an individual tourist, though.

It is quite similar to MAGA people in the US: the European “have-nots” are suffering and are directing their anger to the wrong targets (tourists) while their “haves” are laughing all the way to the bank with the tourists’ money.

During the COVID years the “haves” there were suffering (well, relatively speaking) while “have-nots” had a short reprieve. Well, Covid does not affect tourism any more.

We’ve worn out our welcome with bad behavior
+France. They are protesting against mass tourism at The Louvre. Too many tourists!

It’s the economy, stupid. Raise prices (say €100 per ticket for the Louvre ticket for non-French citizens). Issue solved.

No kidding. He's the worst.

The US is going to war with Iran because Israel is too weak to fight Iran. This puts a target on all Americans.

THIS. Im the OP.

This makes me so angry. Israel should not start fights it cannot win and then drag us into them.

Hon, stay home and let some brave tourist from another country get that gorgeous Birkin in Paris. Europe will be fine without you!

Well, OP, the Travel forum has the best track record from all the other DCUM forums in predicting the real clustefu*ks (it was the only place that had all the right COVID predictions way before anyone else) and so far there is no real alarm.

The wise people on the Travel forum have spoken: don’t cancel.

What are you talking about? I’m in Europe right now actually. Can I not still be angry if Israel drags the US into a war with Iran?!
