How likely is Vance to take WH before 2028?

I also think that Trump can be convinced to resign for “health” reasons so that Vance can both have the advantage of being a seated president while also being able to issue a lot of blanket pardons, including to Trump. I think for this move they want the appearance of proprietary, so it will be whatever portion of a term that a candidate can legally serve in addition to the two elected terms. Vance, though, is not well liked, so his presidency will come with vulnerabilities. The hand-off could be sooner rather than late though, if Trump continues to deteriorate, and other candidates jostle for positions of their own. I can see a strong candidate for VP under Vance being positioned for office instead of Vance as an option too.

There is no way Trump will willingly give up power. He's a very old man so he doesn't need Vance to pardon him. And Republicans won't take it from him given the mindless fervor of his cult. Conservatives/GOP will continue, but this particular cult permanently ends in 44 short months.

He’s a very old man who would rather golf than actually govern. If he resigns with guarantees, he can have all of the fun with none of the demands and embarrassment as his ability to appear competent continues to deteriorate.

Possibly a moderately normal human would do this. But Trump? Never in a million years. Dementia or not he got to the top of mountain by whatever lying & grift & never backing down it took. He's here till the end.

He’s not showing up to debate Biden. Biden will crush him and he knows it!!

Melania is never moving to the White House! She’s going to stay in NYC!!

Vance has as much chance of being Trump's successor as Pence did and as Harris did of being Biden's successor and that chance is 0%.

Harris was Biden’s successor!

According to you, though, she was not? Dare we ask for an explanation?

Trump succeeded Biden by winning the 2024 POTUS election. Try to keep up.

Only because Elon used Star Link to hack the polling booths, keep up yourself.

You sound as pathetic and ignorant as the MAGA idiots did with their stolen election claims in 2020.

Don't write it off as fake news. It just can't be proven until someone squeals. You know that's the truth.

You think Trump could become so mentally impaired that he wont have a choice. The choice will be made for him.

Gravy train ends when Trump leaves. I think they will continue to prop him up as long as they can.

Cults die when the leaders die. Everyone hates Vance.

I don’t think Americans will tolerate back-to-back Presidents with obvious senior moments. I say Trump barely hangs on to WH up until midterms if economy is tanking. If it stabilizes or takes off by then, the GOP will continue to prop him up leaving Vance to wilt on the vine.

Then why did Americans elect people who were 78 years old at the start of a four year POTUS term in consecutive elections? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out people of this age can't be trusted as fit to perform the most powerful and demanding job in the world for four years. Apparently, Americans think they can tolerate unfit presidents.

According to dcum, the American voter is evil and/or stupid.

Vote for democrats, stupids!

Winning slogan right there. We are geniuses.

Anyone who thinks 80 year old people are the best our country of 340 million people can put forward to perform the very important job of leader of the free world is either a stupid person or a misguided person with zero life experience around elderly people. Both parties put unfit in The White House so this isn't party specific. All we can hope for is an effort by the American electorate to recognize the difference between presidential and not presidential going forward.

No, most Democrats don’t actually think this. What they do realize is that huge numbers of Americans don’t vote at all, and Independents supporting Third Party candidates splits the vote. In Biden, they went with a very established reassuringly (to some) white male — and won. The BEST of our country included people like Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris — who many of the more racist traditionalists couldn’t bring themselves to vote for. Yeah, I get that there are other reasons to not vote for these candidates, but it stands out that a wide range of people supported their policies - yet couldn’t bring themselves to vote for the women.

As much as I hate it, pragmatic plans would have multiple white male potential candidates, actually multiple straight white male Christian candidates in the pipeline until the current Heritage Foundation apparatus can either be contained or becomes less appealing to people who aren’t being well-served by their goals.

Yes agree 100%, unfortunately.

Trump very much reminds me of my dad with dementia. The way he goes off on tangents and can't keep his train of thought is exactly what my dad does. He just talks nonsense most of the time that makes complete sense to him. He'll start telling a story from his childhood and somehow end up on the subject of how the Virginia opossum is the only marsupial native to the US.

My dad can also be extremely active at night. People with Alzheimer's and dementia are basically like babies who get their days and nights mixed up. We've seen Trump dozing off during daytime events several times and then he goes on a late night tweet spree when he should be asleep.

IMO, no one over age 70 should be eligible for president.

What points do you think you’re making here — beyond highlighting how little time Melania spends in the White House, or even with her husband?
She stayed in NYC for at least 6 months at the beginning of Trump’s first term, and now she’s supposedly in NYC again as Barron acclimates to his new life as a college student. She hasn’t promoted any projects yet — which I think is fine. First Spouses have a huge public platform, but it’s on them to choose to use it — or not.

Umm hmmm. I bet you thought Harris was winning Iowa, Melania was never moving to the WH (x2), Trump was never showing up to debate Biden, Hillary was going to crush Trump, Hunter Biden’s laptop was hacked, etc etc etc.

And of course, Biden was mentally sharp and physically strong! Everyone was just being mean to him!

Some older men with demy, like my dad, can live a long time semi functional.

Unless the GOP starts deploying Russian methods, I think the current president will make it to 2028.

You have to repeat these over and over again since you have no argument. It is kind of sad.

I hope Vance has zero chance to take the WH before or after 2028.

Melania will never return to live in the White House. My neighbor’s dog knows the doorman who works at Trump Tower.

The doorman told my dad (who has dementia just like Trump, same symptoms claro que) that Melania hates the Evil Orangensaft and is staying in NYC.

Or he might push us into a hot civil war. It seemed ridiculous just a few short months ago, but I’m not so sure now.

Trump is going to put us in the camps!

Barring death, there is no way Trump steps down even if his dementia evolves into the later stages. He is a cult leader and the cult only ends when the leader passes.

He could start shitting himself in public and it would have no effect at all on the base and believers he is surrounded by.

Maybe a 10% chance Vance becomes president (Trump is about to be 79 and has 3+ years to go). About 6% of males at age 79 die each year, but he has better healthcare so odds are somewhat lower.
