Intersection of religion and politics

“People are so shocked when they find … out I am Protestant. I am Presbyterian. And I go to church and I love God and I love my church”

“ When I drink my little wine – which is about the only wine I drink – and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed,” he said. “I think in terms of ‘let’s go on and let’s make it right.’”

I do not think the correlations end there. I believe it's anatomical - part of organic brain makeup, that the correlations go beyond political affiliation and religion but also to personality, and someday, it will be easily identified on diagnostic imaging by radiology.

There certainly could be a large empty area in believers' brains.

Yes, right around the prefrontal cortex area. This isn't sarcasm...there is science that shows how religious people use their brains, why some believers become atheists when they are able to think critically and use the prefrontal cortex finally, how the Socratic method engages that part of the brain and is used to help people begin to question, etc.

As if use of the Socratic method is reserved to atheists…

The ignorance of what Christians believe/think and how we reason is just so bad on this board.

It would be great if people would stop pretending that attacking Jews is politically motivated.

What do you think people are pretending about? (and please consider that you might be wrong).

There have been multiple instances in the past two weeks of people attacking Jews in the name of Palestine.
