| Landon Bullis could have gone either way, a bunch of pipes for each team, one on one looks that sailed over the cage. For landon the differnce makers were the penn commit long pole, the umich fogo (my vote for MVP) and all of the 'next men up" since the bucknell attack was locked down, the penn middie HC middie both scoreless. The Refs were fairly even handed and let the boys play, but landon was penalized for a duck hunting celly by the bench for 1 minute unreleasable unsportsmanlike that resulted in a Bullis goal. The two top teams in the DMV duked it out, Bears came out on top. |
| DeMatha is good this year because they finally have a FOGO who he killing it. Also probably the best WCAC middie in #2 Nick Church and best close defender in #23 Landon McKelvy. Also their attack plays like a unit and know their roles. Matt Beachley, Will Grace and Bobby Komins compliment each other. Also with 16 seniors they play hard because the past 4 years has been crazy especially with the coaching carousel. With the seniors graduating, this season needs to help in getting recruits and transfers for the next years. The junior and senior classes are low. If you are a backup on another team, come to DeMatha where you can play and make a difference. |
*Junior and sophomore classes are low |

Landon v Bullis imo in a very competitive game, I thought talent on the field was fairly even. The officials weren’t much of a factor either. Tremendous crowd too. I’ve never seen that many people standing on the hills above the stadium. Great atmosphere.
I think Landon coaching was far greater. Bad decisions by athletes under pressure often reveals coaching. Bullis made a ton of bad decisions at the end of the game, Landon did not. That’s coaching and preparation; not talent. Tough way for Bellistri to end a very successful run, but if you’re placing blame, the fault lies with the HC and staff. Landon is on top of the mountain once again. |

Episcopal HM - PVI, Heights, Independence Based on wins and losses and SOS 1. Landon 20 seconds from undefeated 2. Bullis just barely eclipsing #3 3. DeMatha playing great after a strange start to the season 4. St. John's 1 upset loss in the region 5. Good Counsel 1 loss to a bad team during the season 6. Gonzaga really tough schedule and gassed out 7. Georgetown Prep Only 2 good wins and they now appear fluky 8. St. Albans competitive team 9. St. Mary's Ryken too many losses during the season take precedence over the tourney run. Can still move up a couple 10. Episcopal best of the rest HM - PVI, Heights, Independence |
Ryken has studs. They deserve everything they've EARNED. People think huge gap D1 vs D3-that's correct for Football and Basketball but not Lacrosse. |

Landon's Quality Wins:
Bullis (twice) Gonzaga (OT win) Benjamin - OT loss to Haverford. DeMatha's QWs: Gonzaga (twice) St. John's (OT win) Good Counsel - OT loss to Bullis. Only other common opponent is Severn. DeMatha wins 12-8; Landon wins 9-7. If DeMatha beats Ryken, they take QW lead and become co-top dogs of DMV. Landon is undisputed FL state champs. |

That’s a terrible take. Landon has a better record, is ranked, and has beaten the only ranked opponent. They beat Bullis twice, who dematha lost to.
Btw I thought penalizing a celebration was really bad refereeing, especially after letting a bunch of really bad high hits go throughout the game. |

Landon 18-1 Quality Wins:
Bullis (twice) who beat Dematha and is just outside national top 25 Gonzaga (OT win) Benjamin #15 Nationally ranked St. Andrews - currently in the FL state finals vs Benjamin Georgetown Prep who beat Good Counsel and Gonzaga - OT loss to 14-3 Haverford #10 Nationally ranked DeMatha's 14-4 QWs: Gonzaga (twice) W/L 10-10 St. John's (OT win) Good Counsel - OT loss to Bullis. - loss to 6-10 St. Mary's Annapolis - loss to 11-7 St. Mary's Ryken - loss to 9-5 LaSalle Only other common opponent is Severn. DeMatha wins 12-8; Landon wins 9-7. Congratulations on a great year and a #3 ranking in the DMV even with a loss in the finals of the WCAC. |
More important to virtue signal a duck hunt with kids pretending their crosse is a gun than to call cross checks and slashes. This is MoCo, get with the program. |
that’s a lot of typing just to get to make your two Heights references. They played a bad public school schedule. |
|
18-1 with soft schedule.
Ohio State is 14-2 and just beat Maryland in Big10 final. Maryland is 11-3. Maryland still ranked higher because they scheduled tougher teams. DeMatha had to run a tougher DMV gauntlet while Landon ducked top area teams. Landon fans will be cheering for Ryken. |
IAC is 9-1 against the WCAC. |
"DeMatha had to run a tougher DMV gauntlet while Landon ducked top area teams" A DMV gauntlet would have included Landon on it. Its a shame the Bears and the Stag's didn't play this season as historically they have played most seasons. DeMatha hired a new HC this summer if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully its an annual spring matchup moving forward. Landon is the undisputed #1 team in the DC area this Spring, there is no debate. They have higher quality wins than the Stags (Bullis 2x, Benjamin, St Andrew Florida, Gonzaga, Prep) and zero bad losses. (an OT loss to Haverford from Philadelphia who is ranked #10 in the nation). Good luck against Ryken! |
