family member implied im fat

Just get a prescription for GLP-1. It's amazing.

I have 40 lbs to lose. I know I can do it by just shutting my damn mouth. I dont judge others for doing it. But I know it’s not for me because that would be putting a bandaid on the actual root cause. Which for me is intense anxiety causing me to overeat

I had 50 to lose, now down to the last 8 to go with GLP-1. I was also an emotional eater. That is now gone, food is no longer an attractive option to me when I am feeling bad or anxious.

Are you fat?

I am fat. Don’t really know what I’m looking for with this. Just wanted to vent.

Because I’m so sick of myself not being able to say no to candy and cookies and cake. And white bread. I’m just so done with feeling this way and being weak

I call troll. I don't know any fat people that eat cake. I'm fat and have been on restrictive eating my whole life. Never eat desserts or snacks. Still fat.

It makes them gleeful to make someone feel bad about being fat. Ultimately it’s immature and mean-spirited and they would feel ashamed to do this to someone with any other struggle.

So you are saying OP should have kept her mouth shut when talking to this family member.
By the way, you sound fat (a nice phrase I learned from the Urbanbaby days).

And maybe those around you are sick of your weak-willed whining and relying on them to lie to you to try and make you feel better when you yourself declared that you're fat! So you felt this family member was obliged to protest when you declared yourself fat?

A quick question to all of you. How do I slap myself so hard that it’ll force me to do a 180? I need someone to just put a rocket in my behind

That’s the thing op. Don’t slap yourself hard and don’t do a 180. Do what you can, small long term changes make bigger difference and are more sustainable than a rocket in your behind and a drastic change in 3 months. Start small but sustainable. Or get meds.

To start, there was no need for OP to say the obvious, that she’s fat. And once she said it, there is no reason for her to demand the other person lie to her telling oh no you’re not fat. Yes, this whole conversation could have been avoided by OP not saying that she’s fat and putting the other person in a tricky spot, either they join OP’s little dance and lie, or stay silent (which the person did initially just being silent and not responding), but then op demanded they lie, or be blunt and agree.

If you're fat, you're fat.

So what would you say?

Sure PP. Let me guess...it's meds. Or genetics. Or some other reasons you're fat. Can't possibly be your eating.

You're eating more than you burn, whether that's cake or kale. Whatever you're eating... you're overeating. Or drinking.

You probably have insulin resistance. You can repair with fasting/no carb or a GLP-1. I'd go with the GLP-1, I think it's more sane.

The male family member (I assume it's your husband) is probably tired of your fishing expeditions. You are probably not aware that you do it often, and it is your indirect style of communication.
Anonymous
There was no way he could win in that situation.
